I like what you post and I can really relate to what you've shared, especially "That's why I believe I can allow myself to distance myself from this Being without repercussions, if I feel the need."

I have a difficult time with anything religious because of the fear factor. As I've recovered from the cult it's become clearer and clearer to me how much fear played a part in the whole experience. How much Berg and F leaders used it to manipulate me. (Of course I'm to blame too for that.) And fear was a big factor in my
Catholic upbringing before I joined.

Religious leaders, cult leaders, the Pope, Berg, religious movements, etc., they may be christian, they may be muslim, one thing that they have in common is the control that is exercised on their followers through fear. The most common one being that you will suffer some way in this life and/or the next if you stray from the way, if you want to be blessed obedience is required.

It's a spiritual journey that I'm on today, readings that ring true to me, processes that help me one day at a time - from moment to moment, my love for the mountains ...hiking and fishing, the positive energy that I find so easy to mutually share with the people I come into contact with at work.

I also relate really well to what you post: "But now the sense of urgency that I have to do something for God has left me and I feel the freedom to just be."

I still pray for situations, especially for loved ones, but I've learned to end every prayer with "Your will not mine be done." I make sure I go in the opposite direction of being presumptious in thinking that I know what God's will is for someone else.
