"I Wonder":

I agree with your asessment of "consider the source"'s "gruesome soteriology". I've heard all, or most of it before, as I'm sure you have.

People who posit a god of that nature, usually want to play both sides. They usually want to posit a god with certain convenient qualities but not other impled ones, in my opinion, and are perhaps unwitting followers, or at least copiers, of atheists like Stephen Jay Gould. He's undisputably known for his a priori attacks on anyone not atheist--"ad hominem"attacks, not friendly or philosophical discussions of spiritual possibilities--in fact not a discussion at all but an atheist's rigid BELIEF SYSTEM and nothing more. No honest hardcore science, and no fair, disciplined study of philosophies; either.

Recent polls and surveys in the US report a general population percentage of believers in the Judeo-Christian God at over 80 percent. But Gould's followers like to pretend atheists in the US are in the majority. They are not--it's a lie.

"Discussions" with them are usually only apparently two-way; no offense to anyone. I did begin a communication with "consider the source", but then thought better of it.

I only come here to try to help other ex-members; I promise.

Another interesting historical fact is that in the 20th Century, far, far more people were killed by atheists, than, to borrow Madeleine Murra O'Hare's term, all the combined "godists" of all previous recorded history. I don't think I have ever seen a bumper sticker to that effect; have you?

Cheers!

Sincerely,
OT2
