I'd have to agree. I have no problem with taxes being raised across the board when it is for the purpose of bettering our society in ways like you have mentioned as well as where health care is concerned.
At some point or other, any person can lose a job, benefits, health and be at that place where they understand why it behooves us all to have access to decent healthcare, too.
The business trend for the average "Joe" is now to hire part time so no benefits, vacation, sick leave, etc. needs to be paid.
Dental care is virtually non existant for a majority of people. Even when they have medical benefits, people can suffer greatly with dental emergencies that hospitals won't do anything for.
So I hope meaninful health care reform occurs as well.
As far as mental health, that is treated about on par with dental. Services have been cut to the corpuscle. Forget to the bone.
