That was a society with rampant rape, murder- gone awry. What always bothered me was how could God consider a man, Lot, as the only righteous man when he was willing to give his daughters to the crowd to be raped and possibly murdered to protect the angel? Would I want a society with regulations that mirrored what was acceptable in times when the bible was written? Otherwise people would be routinely (and legally) selling their daughters into slavery. I wouldn't want that, but that is just me.
