Q: Various religious leaders have denounced your group as an "unchristian sex cult".--Is this true?
A: NO!--The Children of God are a Bible-based movement dedicated to following Jesus Christ! Each member has personally received Jesus into their hearts, and has dedicated their lives to serving God!
Every one of us is personally committed to obeying Jesus' command to bring the Good News of God's Love to our fellowman, to show the World that Jesus is the only lasting Solution to their problems.--Not dangerous drugs, not violent Communism, not selfish materialism!--But Love, peace, Heavenly understanding and sharing!
Q: Alright, let's say you are Christians.--But is it true that you promote sex?
A: Yes, of course we do!--And so does God!--He created it!--He Himself made those very organs and nerves to feel so good! Contrary to the teachings of many churches, the Bible itself makes it clear that sex is not a sin, but was created by God in the very Beginning for our enjoyment, pleasure and procreation! In fact, God's first commandment to Adam and Eve was to "be fruitful and multiply"!--Genesis 1:28.--Which of course means they had to have sex!--God commanded it!
We simply believe that God created our bodies and that sex is His gift to us, to be enjoyed between consenting adult men and women who love one another and use sex as one of the means to express that love, as well as to produce our beautiful children for God's glory!--What's wrong with sex?
Q: So it's true, then, you are a "sex cult"?
A: No!--We are a group of missionaries who are dedicated to telling the World about Jesus, and leading all whom we can into His Heavenly Kingdom! Our beliefs regarding sex actually form only a very minor part of our doctrines and practices.
But because sex is viewed by many sanctimonious religious leaders today as an absolutely forbidden and Satanic sin, the fact that we are so open about it and enjoy it causes them to condemn us as a so-called "free sex cult"! Thank God, we are free!
Q: You have been accused of being pedophiles & of having perverted, incestuous relationships with your children. What do you say about that?
A: That is another absurd lie! In fact, we didn't even know what a "pedophile" was until we heard about it in the news here in the Philippines, where there apparently is a real problem with it! And no, as we have stated, we do not believe in or practice incest!
But speaking of sexual perversions, what about the highly-publicised cases in America recently where Catholic priests have been tried & found guilty by the courts of sexually molesting young boy pupils? If you wish to cite an example of a religious organisation with real sexual problems, look at the Roman Catholic Church! It is well-known by many people that because of their laws which demand that priests remain celibate, homosexuality, or what the Bible calls Sodomy, is rampant amongst much of the priesthood!
The February 23rd, 1987, issue of "Newsweek" Magazine, quoting former priests & professional therapists, estimates that up to 40% of America's 57,000 Catholic priests are homosexual! In the Netherlands, a recent poll revealed that 84% of the priests in the archdiocese of Utrecht had "a positive view of homosexuality", with 28% acknowledging that they were homosexuals themselves!
Other recent newspaper articles have reported how the killer disease AIDS is now spreading amongst Catholic priests in America!--A disease which, as you know, is spread rampantly amongst male homosexuals. So why pick on us for our so-called "sexual freedoms" which are normal, heterosexual relationships between consenting adult men & women! Why not pick on the Catholic Church & its clergy, who indulge in anti-God, anti-Bible, anti-nature, God-cursed Sodomy!
In fact, in the very beginning God said, "It is not good for man to be alone"!--Genesis 2:18. God created us male & female, & made sex a basic, natural, normal need of healthy human beings. So for the Catholic Church to deny sex to their priests, they're asking for trouble!--And sad to say, it is a well-known fact that they've now got it!
It has also been a notoriously well-known fact that many priests who have not become homosexuals have heterosexual relationships with women on the side!--And we don't blame them, as it's a normal, natural need which must be fulfilled! In fact, the Bible says that one of the "doctrines of devils" of the Last Days is that people will be "forbidden to marry".--1Timothy 4:1-3. Celibacy, in most cases, is a "doctrine of devils", unless the person is one of the rare "eunuchs for the Kingdom of God's sake" (Mat.19:12) such as dear Apostle Paul was. However, in this day & age, such "eunuchs" are very rare & are certainly the exception, & not the rule for men & women of God!
Q: We have heard reports that some of your male members have more than one wife. Is this true? And if so, how do you explain it?
A: Well, as you probably know, in most countries it is against the law to practice polygamy, unless of course you happen to be living in a Muslim country. Therefore, in the strict legal sense of having a "wife" & being legally "married" to more than one woman, this is illegal in most places, therefore we don't break the law. However, it is true that a few of our heartier male members do live with more than one woman, & according to the Bible there is nothing wrong with it!
Many of the famous Bible characters & heroes, such as Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Gideon, King David etc., had multiple wives, & King Solomon actually had 700 wives & 300 "concubines", or mistresses!--Which, of course, is quite an extreme, but it goes to show that the Bible has nothing against this practice! By far the majority of our adult members couple up as normal husband-&-wife teams, but if one of our married men happens to fall in love with another woman, & the first wife consents to it, & the husband continues to faithfully love, provide & care for his first wife, then we see nothing wrong with him bringing another woman into their family circle. In fact, she's often a blessing & help to the wife with the home & children, as well as the husband.
Q: But the Bible says, "A bishop must be the husband of one wife."--1Timothy 3:2.
A: Yes, that is a very good verse to show that God intended for the leaders of the Church to be married, something that the Catholic clergy has somehow ignored!--For how else can a man of God who is supposed to be a pastor, shepherd or leader, really relate to & understand the problems of the average member of his congregation who is married & has a wife & children? So of course, the Lord intended for His "bishops" & others in positions of responsibility to be married! But strictly speaking, this verse of Scripture which fundamental Christians use to try to prove that any kind of polygamy is against the Bible, does not necessarily mean that a Church leader should have only one wife, it could just as well mean that he should have at least one wife!
Of course in most countries today, old-fashioned Biblical-style polygamy is forbidden by the self-righteous hypocritical laws of most Western countries. Yet at the same time, they tolerate & even encourage sequential polygamy, or having as many wives as you want one after the other, so long as you only have them one at a time, & duly comply with their rules about conveniently divorcing each one before you marry the next one! This is in defiance of God's Own Laws regarding multiple marriage, as outlined very definitely in the Mosaic Law, where if you take an additional new wife, you were forbidden to divorce the first one or ones!
In other words, this is a good example of how Man's laws are contrary to God's Laws! Western society forbids simultaneous polygamy while it insists on sequential polygamy, while God's Laws strictly forbid sequential polygamy & obviously permitted simultaneous polygamy instead!--What a contrast between the traditions of Men & the Laws of God! As Jesus Himself said to the hypocritical Pharisees, "You make the Laws of God of none effect by your traditions!"
Q: Why is your literature so full of drawings of naked or nearly-naked women?
A: Why not?--That's half the beauty of Worldwide classical art, the gorgeous female figures! We don't believe that there is anything wrong with God-created sex or nudity, so why should we hide it?
Q: But you've said that you do not print or distribute pornography? Surely such illustrations are pornographic!
A: They say that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", & in our opinion & by the standards of most Western countries, our illustrations certainly would not be considered pornographic! Tastefully portrayed, loving, clean, romantic, artistic nudity is something beautiful! God made the human body a masterpiece, & there is plenty of nudity in the old art masterpieces! The Vatican itself is full of nude art!
There undoubtedly is a great difference between graceful & tasteful illustrations of the human form & outright coarse pornography. But our art, like the beautiful accepted classical art of centuries past, is not pornography!--Would you consider the beautiful nude figures in the Sistine Chapel "pornographic"?--Or what about Michelangelo's World-famous totally nude statue of "David" in Florence? --Or the bare-breasted statue of "Justice" in the American government buildings? Only the most narrow-minded religious prudes would consider beautiful classical art, or our similarly beautiful illustrations, to be "pornography"!
We have nothing to do with actual pornography--perverted, unloving, coarse, crude, disgusting nudity, what we in our group consider sickening trash! We only depict & illustrate good, clean, God-created, decent nudity as the beautiful creation of God that it is! We don't portray, promote or publish anything that is gross, coarse, vulgar, violent or unloving! We try to keep our illustrations as artistic as possible, and usually try to conceal the most personal parts, thus most of our artwork is beautiful, artistic & looks like most World-accepted classical art!
Q: But I have seen xeroxes of shocking illustrations from your publications, depicting actual sex acts!--How do you justify that?
A: The so-called "shocking illustrations" that you have seen are undoubtedly from our private sex educational publications which are written & distributed exclusively to the adult members within our communities, & were never designed for distribution to the general public! Frankly, we see nothing sinful, perverse or wrong with our bodies & their God-given natural functions, & in fact, we believe that sex is a gift of God created for our enjoyment & the procreation of Mankind!
Our private literature, which our enemies condemn as "pornographic", depicts natural, normal, heterosexual relationships between consenting adult men & women. Most of these publications are of an instructional or educational nature for the adult members of our communities, & are a Heaven-of-a-lot more wholesome, healthy, natural & Godly than the sickening sexual slop that is dished out by many movie makers, magazine producers etc. today who exploit sex in a very disgusting, unloving, distasteful & unnatural way!
Even here in this country where your restrictive censorship laws are supposed to limit & prohibit the production of sexually explicit materials, countless movies & magazines portray & glorify violence & sex, rape, homosexuality etc.!--Not to mention the many establishments where so-called "bold" shows & "live sex" shows are performed, or the unchecked proliferation & spread of "X-rated" video cassettes of truly pornographic & disgusting materials, where sex organs are the leading "performers" & "stars"! Clean up your own backyard!
In fact, not long ago, the newspapers were screaming about Manila being the "Sodom & Gomorrah" of Asia, with so-called "sex tours" flying in on a regular basis, with chartered airplane-loads of businessmen, executives & sex-starved customers from other Asian countries coming to Manila to have their every fantasy & sexual urge gratified by the money-hungry establishments here who happily oblige to meet these foreigners' sexual demands, whatever they may be!--So why all this fuss & hubbub over a few of our illustrations depicting normal, loving, clean, beautiful, healthful sex between consenting adult men & women? "He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone!" (John 8:7)
Besides, as we have already stated, sex is actually a very minor part of our lives, doctrine & practice, & as hundreds of thousands of Filipinos can testify, we have preached to them Jesus, God's Love & the Gospel, not sex!
It's obvious that we don't go around publicly preaching & promoting sex! If we had, we would have never been able to continue & prosper in our work here for the past twelve years with virtually no problems! It was only when a few bitter & jealous religious enemies got their hands on some of our private publications which were stolen from one of our communities, that this present uproar against us for being a so-called "sex cult" began! Until now, we have been widely received & appreciated by schools, hospitals, old folks' homes, television & radio audiences, on the streets & by the warm, friendly Filipinos in general!
Although many of our beautiful colour posters which we distribute to the public have illustrations in which the beautiful forms of our God-given bodies are tastefully portrayed, none of these illustrations are by any means "pornographic", lewd, explicit or offensive.--Unless, of course, you are such a sensitive soul that the outline of a woman's figure, depicting the lovely natural curves of her thighs or breasts as viewed through a piece of thin material upsets & offends you.--In which case, we believe the problem is you & your false conception & perception of morality, & not our beautiful illustrations of the beautiful bodies which God created!--In fact, our lovely art is less revealing than Michelangelo's classical nude figures that adorn the Roman Catholic Sistine Chapel in Rome!
Q: How can you claim that you do not produce pornography? These photocopies of Children of God publications, "Mountain Maid", "Love of David", "You Are The Love of God" etc., in my opinion can only be termed pornographic.
A: We do not try to hide the fact that we are a sexy religion with a sexy leader who believe in a sexy God, & we see nothing wrong with sex! In fact, we believe it is the most pleasurable & enjoyable physical activity that God created for Man & Woman! Therefore, regarding these publications which you find so offensive, we see nothing wrong with them whatsoever!
Of course, if you want real pornography, there's no need wasting your time looking for it in our publications.--Why don't you just look at all the pornographic magazines that are sold on your streets, or at the crude & pornographic comic books that are available at most newsstands where any child can buy them, or the lewd & tasteless movies & billboards that infest your cities?--If it's pornography you want, don't come to us, there's plenty of it available to the public right here in Manila & the rest of the Philippines!
Q: But you're supposed to be religious! So why are your publications so sexy?
A: It is a well-known fact that sexual problems today, such as frigidity, guilt complexes, inhibitions etc.--problems which are frequently caused & brought on by false & condemnatory religious & church teachings--destroy more marriages & cause more heartbreaks between husbands & wives than anything else! When a marriage goes on the rocks, most frequently the rocks can be found in the bed!--And in most cases, the Church put them there!
Therefore, to educate & liberate people from their false overly-moralistic & hypocritical sexual misconceptions, Father David has purposely extolled sex & its virtues, proclaiming it to be the beautiful, wholesome, wonderful creation & pleasure that God originally intended for it to be!--But as we've stated, our sexual beliefs are only a very minor part of our doctrines & practices.--But because the World is so interested in anything sexual & our religious enemies use our sexual liberties to condemn & turn the public against us, our sex views are what make the news!
Regarding these specific publications, "Mountain Maid" is a fun & light-hearted poem extolling the natural beauty that God has given all women! After all, woman was God's crowning creation, & in this poem Father David is simply thanking & praising God for the beauty God Himself created! What's wrong with beautiful women?--Don't you admire them?
"The Love of David", like most of the literature which our enemies use to try to show how evil, sexy & pornographic we are, is another privately-circulated publication which was never intended to be distributed to the public. Granted, the illustration is shocking, & will no doubt offend & horrify anyone who feels that sex between adult men & women, or an honest & frank portrayal of the human body is sinful or evil! But actually, we find nothing wrong with it, & have found that Letters like this are a great help to people who are bound & "hung up" sexually. As Jesus said, "The Truth shall set you free", & Father David simply tells us the truth about sex & about his relationships with others, & we love & appreciate him for his honesty!
We personally feel that it's much better to be open & honest about our beliefs & not try to hypocritically cover up & pretend to be something that we're not! We're normal human beings like anyone else, sinners saved by God's grace & mercy. But we love Jesus & we are doing our best to help others find Him, & we simply appreciate & thank God for the beauties & pleasures which He Himself created!--What's wrong with sex?
The other publication you mentioned, "You Are The Love Of God", with the shocking picture of the nude woman being pierced by a gigantic nail, is illustrating something that you would probably not understand or believe!--But we'll try to explain it anyway: If you notice, there is also a picture of Jesus on the cross beside her. The text of this Letter explains that when one of our women is willing to lay down her life & make love with someone as a last resort to try to prove God's Love to them & win them to Jesus, it is like a crucifixion, a great sacrifice, in which she, like Jesus, is virtually laying down her life, nailed to a cross of self-sacrifice in order to bring God's Love & Salvation to a lost soul!
As we said, we don't expect you to understand or agree with this parallel, but that's what this picture & Letter are all about. If anything, this publication should prove to you that when we take someone to bed, it's not for money or for our own selfish pleasure, as our enemies have accused us, but it is the ultimate sacrifice, something that we do not do lightly or with just anyone, & it takes the real, genuine, sacrificial Love of God to do it!
Q: Surely you cannot consider some of the illustrations which I have seen in copies of your books entirely "classical"!
A: In our opinion, your opinion & view of our illustrations is your problem, not ours!--No one is forcing our literature upon you. In fact, the illustrations & writings that you have found the most offensive are strictly private publications which have been stolen from our communities & published by our enemies! They are not something that we distribute or offer to the general public! But even so, we find nothing wrong with them.
If, instead of gawking at & finding fault with the illustrations in our literature, you would take the time to carefully read what Father David has written, you would see that our views on sex are very free & liberal, but certainly they are not perverted or illegal!
Q: I have seen & read enough of your literature to know that your girls are encouraged to make love with prospective converts!
A: As we've said before, that is absolutely the last resort, to go so far to show someone God's Love. But if that's what it takes to convince some lonely, love-starved, church-neglected soul that we & God really love them, then we're willing to do it! As Jesus Himself said, "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends!"--John 15:13.
What most people don't seem to realise is that it is an extremely sacrificial ministry, & requires the utmost dedication & love for God & for lost souls, to be willing to go to such extremes to show someone God's Love!
While most of the World engages in extramarital sex & relationships simply for selfish personal gratification, or for security, or for money, or to see what they can get from the other person, we are willing to do so in order to try to win others to Jesus & to give them Salvation!--And it works! Having encountered & experienced real, sacrificial & unselfish love, concern & compassion, countless formerly unbelieving men & women have come to Jesus as a result of this extremely effective ministry! Many have told us, "I would never have believed God loved me & come to Jesus any other way!--You had to prove your love was real before I would believe in & accept His Love!"
Whether you agree with our beliefs & practices or not, if you read our publications & really get to know us, you cannot deny that we are doing it for the right reason, that our hearts are in the right place, & that we sincerely love the Lord & are doing our best to bring His Love to others. The Bible says, "Because Jesus laid down His life for us, we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren!" (1John 3:16), & that is our attitude & motivation when it is necessary to go "all the way" with someone to show them God's Love.
Q: What is "Flirty Fishing"?
A: Jesus called to His disciples, "Follow Me, & I will make you fishers of men!"--Matthew 4:19. What Jesus meant was that He was going to teach & show them how they could win the hearts & souls of men for the Kingdom of Heaven.--And this is what we try to do also, to win all whom we can to the Lord & to bring them into His Heavenly Fold!
Q: Yes, but why do you call it "flirty" fishing?
A: We have found that love, beauty, romance & the natural attraction that God created between men & women are sometimes an excellent means to help us initially attract & interest folks in us & our message! If people are attracted & interested in us, then the chances are good that they'll listen to what we have to say, our message, as we tell them about the Good News of God's Love in Jesus!
Let's face it, almost every business in the World misuses sex & sexual attraction to promote & sell their products--as is evident in the advertising business! So why can't the Creator of sex & His children use it for the good legitimate purpose of attracting folks to the Lord & His Love?
Q: You admit that you use sexual attractiveness to interest prospects. How can you justify such behaviour?
A: Jesus said, "In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these, My brethren, you have done it unto Me!" Therefore whatever we do to help someone come to the Lord is God's Love & mercy to them. The Bible says, "Who ever has this World's goods, & sees that his brother has a need, yet he shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how can the Love of God dwell in him? My little children, let us not love in word neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth!"--1John 3:17,18. If we really have the Love of God, we will do whatever is necessary, whatever we can, to help people physically & practically, to show them His Love, to prove to them His Love, even to meet their physical needs in order to bring them the spiritual truths of God's Love & Salvation in Jesus!
The Bible says, "If a brother or sister be naked & destitute of daily food, & one of you say unto them, `Depart in peace & be ye warmed & filled'; but you do not give them those things which are needful to the body, what does it profit? Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone."--James 2:15-17. If you really love somebody & you really want to show them God's Love, you sometimes must meet their physical needs first, as has often been said, "You cannot preach to a man with an empty stomach!"
This is one reason why so many people are sick & tired & fed up with the Church System! They see the vast wealth, the billions of dollars that the Church has spent on luxurious cathedrals, buildings, idols etc., while neglecting the impoverished peoples of the World who are starving for food & lacking the most basic necessities of humankind!--Is it any wonder that Communism is rapidly conquering the hearts of men around the World, while Christianity--or more correctly, Churchianity--is losing more ground every day?!
Q: Who are you to condemn the Church & its leaders? How do you know that the Church's wealth isn't a blessing from God?
A: Jesus Himself & His Apostles lived like beggars! He said, "Foxes have holes & birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head!"--Luke 9:58. Yet most religious leaders today live like kings in palaces--often at the expense of the poor whom they neglect & oppress! Jesus went out among the people, freely sharing His Love & His Truth & His Words of hope, encouragement & Salvation with all whom He could, in the streets, by the seashore & in the market places, in the houses of the "publicans & sinners", wherever He could reach them!--And He commanded His apostles, disciples & followers to do the same!
But look at the Church today! They build huge, million-dollar cathedrals & temples & church buildings, & then expect the people to gather there together where they go through ceremonies, rituals & traditions that have little or nothing to do with what Jesus taught or practised! No wonder most young people today quickly lose interest in church, & consequently in God & in Jesus & in the Bible, & become disillusioned with such meaningless hypocrisy & therefore look elsewhere for satisfaction, meaning & purpose in life!
Why do you pick on us, trying to find fault in us for collecting meagre donations that barely cover our expenses for the beautiful colour posters & inspiring stereo cassette tapes that we distribute to others? Most people gladly receive them & are more than happy to give a little something to cover their production costs!
Like most missionaries in developing countries, we receive a good deal of our support by mail from friends, relatives & donors in our former home countries. So we're not robbing your people, oppressing your poor or withholding billions that could alleviate the suffering of the pitifully oppressed masses of this country!--But look at the Catholic Church & the vast wealth they hold Worldwide, not to mention all of their properties & financial assets here in the Philippines!
There is not one Scripture in the entire New Testament that says that Christians are supposed to build elaborate Church buildings, nor hold complicated rituals & services etc.! In fact, the Bible says, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon Earth", but rather, "Seek first the Kingdom of God & His righteousness. Set your affection on things Above & not on things on the Earth!"--Matthew 6; Colossians 3. But have the churches obeyed this?--No!--Yet they condemn us for doing what they themselves ought to be doing, & in fact are commanded by Jesus Himself to do, to "Go into all the World & preach the Gospel to every creature!"--To "go out into the highways & the hedges & compel folks to come into the Kingdom of Heaven!" To "go, sell all that thou hast & give to the poor, & come, follow Me, & I will make you fishers of men!"--Mark 16:15; Luke 14:23; Mark 10:21; Matthew 4:19.
Why do the religious leaders of today persecute us?--For the same reason the religious leaders of Jesus' day persecuted Him, because His life of Love & simple sample of going out & bringing God's Love to the common man put them to shame & exposed them for their self-righteous hypocrisy & meaningless loveless laws & traditions!--Because what Jesus said & did was freeing the people from their merciless iron grip, & they feared that they would lose their congregations, influence & power over the masses were He allowed to continue!--John 11:48.
So they scream & they holler & condemn us for being "sinners" & "adulterers" because we occasionally meet a desperate need of some poor lonely soul who is starving for love!
Q: But don't your sexual liberties & "flirty fishing" harm & break up marriages?
A: NO!--Not at all! In fact, we have many testimonies of men--& even from their wives--of how that after the man came to know us, he found real love, the Love of Jesus, & went back to his wife & shared that love with her, & their entire marriage was transformed & renewed!
If anything, we help put marriages back together! Actually one woman here in the Philippines, who knew her husband was running around with other girls, mistresses etc., when she saw the change in her husband after he met us, she told him she knew that we had really helped him, & that he was learning about Jesus & receiving the Love of God, & had become a better man & a better husband for it!
Q: What do you mean you don't break up marriages?--Don't you break up marriages with your doctrine of "forsaking all"?--How do you explain that?
A: When someone feels a special call from God & decides to "forsake all", & to commit their lives fulltime to the Lord, dedicating their all to His service, yes, sometimes it happens that they are married & their mate is not interested in God, does not want to follow Jesus & refuses to serve the Lord or to preach the Gospel or to live a Christian life. Then the one who personally feels the call of God is faced with a painful & very personal decision. This, of course, is nothing new, but has been a common problem throughout the ages!
Jesus Himself said, "Every one that has forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for My Name's sake, shall receive an hundred fold, & in the World to come everlasting life!"--Matthew 19:29.
He also said, "Whoever he is of you that does not forsake all that he has, he cannot be My disciple!" (Luke 14:33), a word which literally means "a follower of the teaching", one who follows Jesus all the way. So this doctrine of forsaking all is not ours, it is right there in the Bible & is clearly found in Jesus' Own Words! Of course, very few Christians today ever even mention, much less practice, such an "extreme" doctrine, because most Christians seem to be content with going to church once a week, putting a few centavos or a few pesos in the offering plate & then they consider that they are righteously serving God! However, a casual glance at any of the Gospels reveals that following Jesus & being His disciple involves a lot more than that!
Q: Are you admitting that you coerce & pressure people to leave their families & friends & join your cult?
A: No!--We don't "pressure" or try to force anyone into "forsaking all", contrary to the accusations against us by our religious enemies! Jesus said, "Many are called but few are chosen" (Matthew 22: 14), and we believe that only God Himself
can call someone to "forsake all". We consider it a high privilege to be His fulltime servants, & when people come to us & express a desire to join us, we warn them that it is a very sacrificial life, it is rigorous, there are many hardships to be endured, & we often try to discourage them & tell them to go home & think & pray about it & "count the cost" before making such a decision or commitment!
But if someone is sure that God is calling them, & they want to be a missionary & give their lives to spread His Love to others, then who are we to tell them not to, to tell them to stay home & be the husband or wife or slave of some unbelieving, ungodly mate who refuses to believe the Bible?--What if Jesus' disciples had refused to "forsake all", or what if St. Francis had refused to forsake all, or what if the priests & nuns & brothers & sisters of the Catholic Church had refused to "forsake all"?--Then the Church would never have been what it is today!
As we said, "Many are called, but few are chosen", & this is a very personal decision & commitment which we leave entirely up to the individuals. But if somebody is determined to give their life to God & is sure they are called to serve Him with us, then who are we to stop them for the sake of some unbelieving mate or relative? If they are of legal age, & are adults & are mature enough to make their own decisions, & they prove that they are sincere & genuinely determined to follow God & live for Jesus, then we, of course, won't discourage them from doing so!
However, you cannot blame us for breaking up marriages or breaking up families. You'll have to blame God, because it's His Word that sometimes demands such a sacrifice. It was very difficult & perhaps the hardest test for many of us to leave our loved ones in order to "take up our cross & follow Jesus daily", as He called us to do.--Luke 9:23,24. Jesus Himself said, "I am come to set a man at variance against his father, & the daughter against her mother, & the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household! He that loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, & he that loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me! And he that taketh not his cross & followeth after Me is not worthy of Me."--Matthew 10:34-38.
Q: If women in your group actually make love with men to whom they are not married, aren't they committing adultery & breaking the Ten Commandments?
A: Yes, they are breaking the Ten Commandments!--But no, they are not sinning or committing adultery!--Because we Christians who love & believe in Jesus are no longer bound by the Laws of Moses! Just take a good look at the New Testament, at the Gospels, & you will see that this is why the religious leaders of Jesus' day were so infuriated with Him, & were determined to kill Him!--Because He continually broke their Mosaic Law!
The story of when Jesus healed the lame man at the pool of Bethesda illustrates this point perfectly: The Bible says that this man had been crippled for 38 years, & when Jesus saw him, He commanded him, "`Rise, take up thy bed, & walk!' And immediately the man was made whole, & took up his bed, & walked. And the same day was the Sabbath day." The Bible then tells us, "The Jews therefore said unto him that was healed, `It is the Sabbath day: It is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed!' But he answered them, `He that made me whole, the same said to me, Take up thy bed and walk!' Therefore
the Jews persecuted Jesus, & sought to slay Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath day!"--John 5:7-16.
Imagine, Jesus had done a great & wonderful miracle in healing & restoring health to this formerly crippled man, but instead of rejoicing & praising God for the great miracle that He had done, these self-righteous hypocritical religionists were infuriated because their hallowed holy day & their legalistic law was broken, & therefore they sought to kill Jesus!
Q: Alright, it looks like Jesus did break the Mosaic Law regarding the Sabbath. But does this mean that you are free from all the other Laws of Moses as well?
A: Yes!--The reason we call the New Testament the New Testament is because God did away with the Old Law completely when He sent Jesus into the World, no longer requiring or expecting us to keep a bunch of strict laws & restrictive regulations which no one besides Jesus was ever able to keep anyway! When Jesus died for our sins on the cross, He ushered in the Age of Grace. "For the Law was given by Moses, but Grace & Truth came by Jesus Christ!"--John 1:17.
Q: If God actually planned on doing away with the Law, then why did He give it in the first place?
A: God gave us the Law to show us that we're sinners, for "by the Law is the knowledge of sin!"--Romans 3:20. The Bible says the strict Mosaic Laws were our teacher, our instructor or "schoolmaster", to show us that we need to come to God for mercy & forgiveness, for "the Law was our schoolmaster, to bring us unto Christ, so that we might be justified by faith!"--Galatians 3:24.
The Law is also God's means of regulating the ungodly, the people who do not love Jesus. He says, "The Law was not made for the righteous, but for the lawless & the disobedient, for the ungodly & for sinners, for unholy & profane, for murderers of fathers & murderers of mothers, for manslayers!"--1Timothy 1:9.
But once we are "born again" by the Spirit of God's Love (John 3:3), & are become "new creatures in Christ Jesus" (2Corinthians 5:17), we are free from the shackles of the old Mosaic Law & are free in God's Love through Jesus! "For after faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster!--And if the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed!"--Galatians 3:25; John 8:36.
Q: You mean to tell me that you believe that there are no more laws of God that you, as a Christian, have to keep?
A: No, we didn't say that. We said we are no longer under the Laws of Moses! But now, having received Jesus & become His born-again children, we are under a new, much greater, much stricter Law, God's Law of Love! When the self-righteous, hypocritical religious leaders questioned Jesus, "Master, what is the great commandment in the Law?", He replied, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart & with all thy soul & with all thy mind. This is the first & Great Commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."--Matthew 22:37-39.
He then shocked His religious interrogators by saying, "On these two commandments hang all the Law & the Prophets!"--Matthew 22:40. They had literally thousands of complicated, ritualistic, restrictive religious laws, but Jesus told them that they now only needed two!--To love God & to love others!--That's all! He said, "In this is all the Law", all the Bible: Love! "For against Love, there is no Law!"--Galatians 5:22,23.
This is why the Bible says, "All things are lawful unto us!"--1Corinthians 6:12. If we have Jesus in our hearts & are filled with His Spirit of Love, then Love is the only rule! "For if you are led of the Spirit, you are not under the Law!"--Galatians 5:18. "For all the Law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself!"--Galatians 5:14. "Therefore do to others what you would have them do to you; for this is the Law & the Prophets!"--Matthew 7:12. If you have Love, you have everything, & are fulfilling the laws of God!--And not hurting anyone!
Q: But if this is true, then you are free to do whatever you want to do, to rob, to steal, to hurt, harm, rape, whatever you want to, right?
A: No, of course not! We already said, God's Law is Love! And the Bible says, "Love does its neighbour no harm!"--Romans 13:10. If you love God & you love others, you're not going to hurt them, you're not going to be selfish, you're not going to do anything to them that you wouldn't want them to do to you! Therefore Love is all you now need!
True, knowing this gives us a lot of freedom, but in many ways God's Law of Love is actually the most binding Law of all! It's not a selfish, reckless freedom wherein we are free to disregard our neighbours & act unkindly, selfishly & lawlessly to them! In fact, we are now obligated not only to dutifully not harm, not steal from, nor hurt others because the Law of Moses forbids it, but we are to go beyond mere duty & all of the "thou shalt nots" of Moses & be positively good to others because we want to, because we love them!
In the Mosaic Law there was virtually no forgiveness, it was "an eye for an eye & a tooth for a tooth"!--Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:20. Moses said that if someone knocks out your eye or tooth, you're allowed to knock out theirs! But Jesus said, "Do unto others what you would want them to do to you!"--Matthew 7:12.--Not just whatever they do to you, but what you would want them to do to you.--This is God's Law of Love! So Jesus' Law of Love is actually much stricter & even more difficult to keep than were the impossible-to-keep Laws of Moses!--In fact, you'll never be able to keep His Law of Love unless you have Jesus Himself & the Mother Holy Spirit living in your heart to give you the power & the strength & genuine Love of God to have real love for others!
Q: Alright, even if "all things are lawful", as the New Testament does clearly say, surely this could not include sex! Even the Apostle Paul warned against unmarried sex, adultery & fornication!
A: Well, we are convinced that "all things being lawful for us" actually means all, A-L-L things, including sexual freedoms!--As long as what we're doing is done in genuine, unselfish, sacrificial Love of God & not hurting any innocent party, then according to the Scriptures, there is no longer any law of God against it! It is neither sin nor adultery nor fornication!--Those Mosaic Laws are no more to the believer in the grace of God & the Love of Jesus!
As far as some of Saint Paul's laws go, it is obvious that he wrote a lot of things simply trying to keep his new converts out of trouble.--To solve a lot of marriage and sexual problems etc. In some of his advice on sexual matters, he frankly told his followers & new converts, "This speak I, & not the Lord!"--1Corinthians 7:12. So Paul's advice in such matters must be compared to & weighed against the bulk of Scriptures that clearly state that whatever is done in Love, there is no Law of God against it.
Q: When you say, "God's only Law is Love", does this mean that you are free to disregard all the laws of Man?
A: No, of course not! The Bible instructs us explicitly to "obey the powers that be" (Romans 13), & that we are to try to "live in peace with all men, as much as is possible."--Romans 12:18. Therefore we also do our best to abide by the laws of the land in each country where we live or visit.
But some try to make it very hard for us to do so & to love others & give them the Gospel of God's Love & wonderful freedom! But "If ye continue in My Word, ye shall know the Truth, & the Truth shall make you free!"--John 8:32.--Have you found God's glorious Truth & freedom from the painful bondages of the traditions of mere men?--Read the Bible now & find it!
Q: I've heard that your primary motive for making love is for money.--Prostitution, plain & simple. Is this true?
A: That is an absolute lie! We do not go to bed with or make love to anyone for money! If we make love with somebody, we do it out of love, & for nothing else! Our love is not for sale! The Love of God is priceless! The only price that's worth it is the salvation of an eternal soul!
Q: But don't your women expect the men that they go to bed with to pay them for it?
A: No!--We do not accept money for sex! But often, when the people to whom we have witnessed--the vast majority of whom we do not go to bed with--have gotten to know us, & they appreciate our work for the Lord, many times they offer help & ask if they can give something or if there's anything we need. So just like any church or charitable organisation, if someone offers help or gives a donation to our work, we gratefully accept it.--Why shouldn't we?
Q: I have seen evidence that some of your women were employed by an Escort Service in other countries.
A: So what? Many of us have taken secular jobs at different times, & in most countries Escort Services are perfectly legal, respectable agencies to which lonely travellers & visitors can go to find someone to show them around town, to take out to dinner, to interpret for them & to have someone to talk with.--Thus offering us an ideal opportunity to witness & tell them about Jesus!
Q: But how can you deny that you're prostitutes & adulterers if your women go to bed with men to whom they are not married?
A: As we've already explained, we are no longer bound by the Laws of Moses, but are now free to enjoy life, love & liberty to the full under Jesus' Own Law of Love! "For the Law was given by Moses, but grace & truth came by Jesus Christ! Christ is the end of the Law to everyone who believes!"--John 1:17; Romans 10:4.
If you want to so self-righteously condemn us for sleeping with others when we are actually sacrificially laying down our lives & doing our best to show them the Love of God, perhaps you should take a look at what the Bible says about spiritual adultery, which is a sin of the heart, & is much more serious in the eyes of God than the mere deeds of the flesh! "Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart!"--1Samuel 16:7.
The Bible makes it clear that love of the World & Worldly things is spiritual adultery! Dedicated Christians are to "love not the World, neither the things that are in the World. For if any man love the World, the love of the Father is not in him!"--1John 2:15. Jesus Himself said, "No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one & love the other, or else he will hold to the one & despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon!"--Matthew 6:24.
"Mammon" literally means material wealth & riches, or simply money. Think of it, Jesus Himself said that "no man can serve God & Mammon", yet what do most of today's Christian leaders who profess to be serving God really spend most of their time doing?--Working for Jesus, gathering eternal souls for the Kingdom of Heaven?--Or gathering temporal wealth & riches for themselves or their religion? Jesus exhorted His followers, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon Earth, where moth & rust corrupt & where thieves break through & steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven!"--Matthew 6:19,20. Is this what the established churches are doing today?
Many very intelligent men who have studied the Roman Catholic Church closely have decided & agreed that it is above all, the World's biggest business & richest institution! It is an undisputed fact that the Catholic Church is the largest owner of priceless historical architecture & artistic buildings & art treasures in the entire World! The wealth represented by these holdings, were it to be imagined in actual dollars, is incalculable!
Recent financial & media revelations have made it clear that the Catholic Church is the most powerful financial entity of all time, handling untold billions of dollars' worth of real estate, art treasures & antiques, stocks, trusts & bonds, untold shares in oil, motors, electronics, hotels, soft drinks, air lines etc., has vast deposits of gold in Swiss, American & other banks, has more dollar assets than the most powerful corporations of the U.S.A., & larger monetary reserves than France, Belgium, Italy & Great Britain put together! (See "The Vatican Billions" by Avro Manhattan, & "What's Happening In The Roman Church?" by William Standridge.)
Our religious critics condemn us as adulterers because we are willing to sacrificially do everything & anything within our power to try to show the Love of God to needy souls whom the churches have failed to reach with their conventional methods.--Well, we think they would be prudent to read what the New Testament says about spiritual adultery: "Ye adulterers & adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the World is hatred towards God? Whoever therefore will choose to be a friend of the World becomes an enemy of God!"--James 4:4.
Q: I have heard that the Children of God promote homosexuality & lesbianism.--Is this true?
A: No, absolutely not! We are diametrically opposed to homosexuality, or Sodomy! The Bible specifically, expressly, definitely forbids & curses male homosexuality, & God even destroyed entire civilisations & great cities such as Sodom & Gomorrah for their indulgence in this anti-God, anti-nature perversion! We do not promote or engage in it in any way, shape or form! Our writings & teachings on the subject make it clear that we believe that homosexuality is not only anti-God & anti-nature, but is also harmful, dangerous, spiritually-perverted & physically damaging to the body!
Of course we love, pity & feel sorry for the poor boys & men who have fallen into this vice. We have many testimonies of men who, by receiving Jesus & His Truth into their hearts, have overcome it & been completely delivered from it, & are now totally free from this former bondage, & have become normal men with natural heterosexual desires & affections.
Q: But I have seen a Letter by Father David entitled "Women in Love", in which lesbianism is promoted & endorsed. What do you say about that?
A: We do not promote lesbianism! In our opinion, a lesbian is a woman whose only sexual desire is to be with other women, & has no desire to be with men at all. However, if two normal, feminine women who have normal relationships with men happen to love each other & physically express that affection to each other, they are not necessarily lesbians, & we believe that their affection for one another could simply be an expression of real love. This is not the same as male homosexuality for obvious reasons: Two women cannot cause the bodily physical damage or health hazards to each other in the same way that men can. Of course, this is the exception & not the rule, & normal heterosexual relationships are the God-intended ideal.
Regarding the Letter you mentioned, "Women in Love", this was written when a confirmed lesbian joined our Family & desired to have a relationship with another girl in the community in which she was living. At the time, we felt that because it was not expressly forbidden in the Scriptures, like male homosexuality is, perhaps it was permissible.
However, some years later, in 1983, Father David wrote regarding this same girl, "When I was first asked those questions by her, I knew virtually nothing about lesbianism, for I had never had personal contact with a lesbian. I knew I abhorred male Sodomy, but I had never really had an experience with lesbians, & I was trying to be charitable, trying to be as merciful as possible & look on the bright side regarding her situation. But now that I've met her & had personal contact & seen it with my own eyes, I now know it's abhorrent to the Lord!--Intolerable! So Lord forgive me for allowing lesbianism when I really knew little or nothing about it. However, even back then in my original Letter ("Women in Love"), I did make it clear that it was a perversion & that she needed deliverance!"
The particular woman that this is referring to has since been prayed for & has been totally delivered from lesbianism, thank God, & is now the beautiful creature that God intended for her to be, a completely feminine woman! Q: You have said that you do not believe in incest or child molestation. So how do you explain the picture I have seen from your literature that shows a little boy obviously being fondled or masturbated by an adult woman nurse?
A: If you'd look at the title on that picture, you'd see that it is not about having sex at all, but is practical instruction on how to remedy a common childhood problem that many young boys have! The title is, "Uncircumcision!--To Be Or Not To Be?", & the subtitle reads, "Have you a little boy with a problem?--There's a very natural, painless solution!" If you'd simply take the time to read the text that this is the cover illustration for, you'd see that this Letter is purely educational, passing on a medical doctor's advice to parents on how to help their young boys who may have the common problem of an overly-tight foreskin on their penis. It offers advice on how to naturally, patiently stretch & work the foreskin down in order to avoid infection & irritation which frequently occurs when the child's foreskin is too tight to be peeled back, therefore making it difficult or impossible to properly clean the child's penis.
Our self-righteous, bigoted & hypocritical religious enemies have used this picture for years as "evidence" to try to prove that we promote having sex with children, when they know good & well that the text says nothing along those lines whatsoever, but is merely practical instruction to inexperienced mothers & fathers on how to alleviate this common problem in their young male children!--Practical advice which can be found in scores of secular medical books!
Q: One recent newspaper article alleged that you have group drug-taking sessions.
A: That is such an absurd, sickening, ridiculous lie that it is hardly worth answering! As we have stated categorically, we do not believe in taking drugs in any way, shape or form! They are dangerous, illegal, expensive & completely unnecessary! In fact, although many of us used dangerous drugs before we found Jesus, we were miraculously delivered from drug addiction as soon as we got saved & opened our hearts to Him!
The reason that many of us took drugs was not so much that we were trying to "escape reality", but we were looking for reality!--Looking for peace of mind & contentment of heart & something more than the money-mad materialism which we had been taught was the primary goal of life! But after experimenting with all different kinds of drugs, many even becoming addicted to hard drugs, we found that drugs were not the answer, but only lead to despair, suffering, degradation, disillusionment & even death!
As soon as we received Jesus, that was the end of our drug-taking & the end of our search for happiness, because Jesus alone is the Answer!--And only He can truly satisfy the heart of man & give genuine peace of mind to those who are searching for it!
So drug-taking is completely against our rules, & anyone who insists on doing so is immediately excommunicated from our fellowship! Therefore, none of our members take drugs in any way, shape or form.--We don't even smoke!
In fact, our missionaries have helped tens of thousands of people to stop taking drugs! Jesus is the best, most lasting, immediate & the only truly miraculous cure for drug addiction!--He not only physically heals broken & drug-abused bodies, but He mends broken, disillusioned & dissatisfied hearts, permanently filling the aching void that causes many people to turn to drugs in the first place!
Q: What about the charge that you told a mother to kill her unborn baby?
A: Any allegation or insinuation that we would encourage any mother to kill her unborn baby is such a horrible, sickening, twisted lie that it is obviously the product of some demented & twisted liar who is purposely trying to slander us! We believe & teach that babies & children are precious gifts of God to be loved & cherished & treasured!--And we are famous for our clear-cut stand against the horrible, devilish, murderous, genocidal practice which is widely accepted in much of today's perverted World, abortion!--We are absolutely against it!
We have publicly denounced & decried abortion as a heinous crime against both God & Man in literally millions of pages of our literature, as well as in one of our most popular songs which is available on our "Heaven's Magic" cassette tapes, "Mother, Let Me Live!"--The pitiful plea of an unborn child, begging her mother to keep her!--A song that is so effective & moving that various "Right-To-Life" anti-abortion groups have sought & been given our permission to use it!--And many pregnant women around the World have been encouraged not to have an abortion after hearing it!
Babies & children are what give joy & life & new purpose to living, & we consider them one of the most precious gifts of God that He gives & entrusts us with!--So for anyone to even imply that we would encourage a mother to kill her unborn baby, they are clearly showing their total ignorance about us & our beliefs, or their own insidious perfidy in speaking such vile, absolutely unfounded & heinous lies about us!
Q: Why isn't your group officially registered like other churches & established religious organisations are?
A: The reason we are not registered is because we are not an organisation like most churches & religious denominations are. We are a loosely-bound fellowship of like-minded believers whose common aim is to reach all men with the Love of Jesus & the knowledge of how they can be saved by asking Him into their hearts.
Since our goal is not to build up a big organisation, or to build churches or acquire properties, & since we do not seek any of the benefits--such as tax deductibility or charity status--offered by legal registration, there is actually no need for us to register.
Jesus Himself was never registered or "officially recognised" by the established religious & secular authorities of His day. In fact, in Luke Chapter 9 He said, "Foxes have holes & birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head!" He was always on the move to avoid His bitter enemies & persecutors!
And this, of course, is another reason why we are not registered. Like Jesus' foes, our jealous religious enemies are very powerful & would like to get rid of us & drive us out of the country if they could! By going through all the red tape & rigmarole that registration would entail, we would be making it very easy for them to do just that.
Q: Some papers have reported that you are staying in this country illegally.--Is this the case?
A: No! Those of us who are Filipinos have as much right to be here as any other Filipinos!--And those of us who have married Filipinos & obtained government-issued permanent residency are also entitled to stay here. The rest of us are passing through as visitors, & we get our visas renewed by the CID just like every other foreigner here in the country does. We have all registered at the Immigrations Office, paid our fees, filled out the forms & obtained our legally-issued visas.
Q: How many fulltime members do you have staying in our country?--Foreigners & nationals?
A: As we mentioned before, we are a loose-knit voluntary Christian fellowship, not a highly-organised formal church, & people who work with us are constantly coming & going. Therefore we honestly don't have an exact figure to give you. But even if we did, we don't feel it would be wise, under the present wave of religious persecution, to make such confidential information public!
Jesus Himself said, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents & harmless as doves" (Matthew 10:16). We are actually very harmless sheep who are simply going about the Lord's work of preaching the Gospel & winning others with His Love. But our powerful enemies are wolves, who would not hesitate to do to us the same thing that Jesus' enemies did to Him & to all of His Apostles & early disciples! We're happy to give you the truth & answer valid questions regarding our doctrines, beliefs & practices, but we're not going to unnecessarily endanger ourselves & jeopardise our brothers & sisters who are doing their best to preach the Gospel & share His Love with others here!
Q: I've heard that your group rents large expensive houses. How can you afford this if you're poor missionaries as you claim?
A: If by "large expensive houses" you mean villas & mansions & huge extravagant properties, the answer is No!--We do not own or even rent such properties, as they are definitely beyond our financial means. Most of our missionaries live in medium-sized normal houses just like everyone else! In some cases we do rent large houses, but we do this merely to pool our meagre finances, & have found that renting larger places actually saves money in the long run.
We fill the houses we rent & use every square inch of them to house our missionaries, to give schooling to our children, to teach Bible classes & have fellowship meetings with our new converts & those to whom we're ministering etc. etc.! Even in the largest places that we rent, when the rental expenses are divided by the number of people who live there, our expenses are very minimal & far lower than that of most missionaries who have their own private houses & properties.
Most of us live together communally just as the Early Church did, "All that believed were together & had all things common" (Acts 2:44-45), which enables us to have an incredibly economical way of life! None of us drive around in fancy new automobiles, nor do we accumulate properties, nor buildings, nor even houses, nor do we waste millions & even billions of dollars like other religious groups do, building elaborate church buildings that Jesus never said to build, or by having fancy pipe organs & stained-glass windows, golden crosses, jewel-bedecked statues & idols & rich chief priests etc.!
We refuse to squander & waste the Lord's money by tying up funds in buying or building large expensive properties & houses like the Churches, but consider ourselves strangers & pilgrims here, & therefore save our meager funds for literature & preaching the Gospel.
Q: Who are your local leaders here & who is in charge of the work in the Philippines?
A: Of course, you must understand that for us to reveal such information would absolutely endanger our brothers & sisters, & therefore we cannot discuss such matters! If you were suffering a malicious smear campaign & persecution like we are, we're sure you would not make such information public either! Besides, each of our missionary Homes has their own shepherd or responsible person, & whether or not they wish their names published in a newspaper is entirely their decision, not mine or anyone else's.
Q: Why are you so bitterly attacking the Church?
A: We are not at war with the Church, & we have not gone around damning & condemning it all the time. In fact, we pretty much left the Church alone for many years here, but it is the Church that has attacked us & come out with all these lies about us & is whipping up the government against us with all these false charges which we feel obligated to answer! We also feel that it's only fair that we explain & expose the reasons why the Church is so viciously attacking us, even as Jesus did to the religious leaders & hierarchy of His day.
Most of the time He quietly went about His business of preaching the Gospel & showing God's Love to others, & the Bible says He even purposely avoided them, "He would not walk in Jewry, for the Jews sought to kill Him", but when they determined to get rid of Him & were spreading lies about Him & plotted to destroy Him, He exposed them for the "Scribes, Pharisees & hypocrites" that they really were & gave them such a strong blast of truth that they soon ended His earthly ministry, cruelly deporting Him not only from their country but from this life! (Matthew 23)
But we know and realise that there are many sincere Christians within the churches who love Jesus & are doing their best to follow Him, & to those who know & love Jesus & believe God's Word, we extend our love, & we count them as our brothers & sisters, & have nothing against them. It is only the "blind leaders of the blind", the "Scribes, Pharisees & hypocrites who indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but are like whited sepulchres & within are full of dead men's bones, corruption, rottenness & all manner of uncleanness!"--Matthew 15:14; 23:27.--Which is Jesus' Own description of such hypocritical religious leaders "who love the praises of men more than the praises of God!" Those who "honour Him with their lips & draw nigh to Him with their mouth, but their hearts are far from Him! For in vain they do worship Him, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men!" (Matthew 15:8,9)
Q: Your group has been officially banned from school campuses throughout the country.--What is your reaction to this?
A: Of course it saddens us to be unable to preach the Gospel & share the Good News of God's Love in Jesus with the young people here in their schools. In the past, our ministry at the different schools in this country has been primarily a musical outreach, & groups of our musicians have gone to schools and have sung our inspiring and uplifting songs about Jesus and God's Love, pointing the kids to the Lord and His Truth as found in the Bible! School principals, teachers & counsellors have all heartily thanked us for sharing such a positive, uplifting & helpful message with their students, & our ministry on the campuses has been very well received & appreciated in the past. School authorities have been very pleasantly surprised to see entire assembly halls of students bow their heads in sincere prayer with us to ask Jesus into their hearts at the conclusion of our meetings with their students.
However, allegations that we encourage young under-aged students to "forsake all" are absolute lies! Our message to the pupils has simply been the Good News of God's Love in Jesus! We certainly have never encouraged under-aged students or young children to leave their schools, studies or parents & to join us fulltime! In fact, ever since our earliest days in America, 20 years ago, it has been one of our rules to never allow any under-aged young people to join us without explicit written notarised permission from their parents or legal guardians. So all accusations & allegations that we are trying to persuade young under-aged students to leave their families, schools etc. are absolutely totally false!
Neither have we passed out pornographic material or encouraged sexual promiscuity amongst the students, which are the supposed crimes that have prompted the Education Department to issue the banning order. All of these accusations are total fabrications of our bitter & jealous enemies!
Q: If your group is not guilty of all of these charges which have been recently leveled against you, then why have you been banned from the United States, China, Hong Kong etc.?
A: We have not been banned from these countries! At this moment we still have hundreds of members actively witnessing & winning multitudes of souls, distributing hundreds of thousands of pieces of literature & continuing to openly preach the Gospel & spread our message throughout the United States! Of course, we have received persecution there, & our powerful religious enemies there have done their damnedest to hinder & destroy our ministry, but thank the Lord, they have never succeeded!
One of the main reasons that America has persecuted us is because we have faithfully & uncompromisingly proclaimed & exposed the evils of that decadent nation! 'Way back in the late `60's, we made headlines there as we travelled throughout the country, donning red sackcloth & ashes to symbolise the death of freedom there, warning them that "the wicked shall be turned into Hell, & every nation that forgets God!"--Psalm 9:17.
Through our literature which we have distributed Worldwide, we have exposed America's blatant sins of kicking the Bible & prayer out of her public schools, nationwide drug abuse, record-breaking crime rates, promotion of anti-God abortion, homosexual sodomy, perverted glorification of violence & witchcraft in the media, demonic "music videos" & "thrillers", "heavy metal" & "punk music" which is polluting & corrupting the World, an unchecked nuclear arms race & unfair trade agreements & high tariffs against the World's poor nations!--But despite all these sins & crimes, many Americans still hypocritically boast that they are "the World's most Christian nation"!
America was once Christian, many years ago when she was first founded, but she has horribly backslidden into becoming one of the most wicked nations on Earth today! We have exposed America's hypocrisy time & again, & they hate us for it!--Particularly the religious denominations, who do not like to be told how terrible their backslidden state is in the eyes of God!--See Revelation 3:15-19.
But thank God, many Truth-loving Americans still receive us & our ministry, & are grateful that we are able to help deliver their youth from crime, drugs & meaningless lives of materialistic madness!--And many of our communities there continue to thrive & prosper to this day! We have never been officially banned or banished from that country!
In Hong Kong, a massive media campaign generated by our religious enemies did finally pressure the authorities to begin harassing & persecuting us, at which time we followed Jesus' advice, "When they persecute you in one place, flee to another!" (Matthew 10:23), and most of our foreign missionaries have left Hong Kong.--And we will do the same here if the present witchhunt continues against us in this country! But no, to our knowledge we were never officially "banned" from Hong Kong.
Of course Communist China is a slightly different story, & as soon as the authorities there discovered our presence & how successful we were in winning their youth to Jesus--many of whom had never even heard His name before meeting us & who knew absolutely nothing about the Bible & the Good News of His Salvation as taught in the Gospels--they were swift to force our expulsion from that land. But how many missionaries from any church are successfully operating & preaching the Gospel today in China?--Probably none, because China is an officially Communist, anti-God, anti-Christ state, & is therefore violently opposed to religion, particularly to missionaries who are actively doing what Jesus said to do, "preaching the Gospel to every creature", & "making disciples of all nations"!
Even the Catholics in China have suffered terrible persecution & even martyrdom at the hands of the Communists. For many years, Chinese Catholics have been discriminated against, have not been allowed to operate freely & have been pressured to renounce their allegiance to the Pope.
But such actions are to be expected from an openly, avowedly anti-Christ, Communist government, right?--A nation that has cruelly imprisoned, tortured & murdered untold thousands--if not millions--of Christians of all denominations! But here, in a country that is Christian, where the teachings of Jesus are believed & upheld by many, to see a tiny band of sincere, Gospel-preaching, soul-winning missionaries condemned, crucified & cruelly expelled by the powerful religious hierarchy who should know better, this is a sad commentary on your highly-touted new freedom of religion, democracy & Christian tolerance & understanding!
Of course, even if we had been officially banned in some countries, why should we be ashamed? Jesus' religious enemies not only banned Him from their country & the whole Roman Empire, but from this World & life itself, cancelling His right to stay there with a cruel cross that deported Him into His Heavenly Father's Kingdom! The Apostles also were frequently exiled, banned & banished from the countries in which they were preaching the Gospel, & were therefore constantly on the move for the Lord, spreading the Good News of His Word wherever they went! In fact, Jesus Himself said that, "You shall be hated of all nations for My Name's sake", & warned us that, as He was despised, rejected & cruelly mistreated by others, we could expect the same!--John 15:19,20.
Q: Why did your group infiltrate our military?
A: We did not "infiltrate" the military! We went in openly!--The same way we go everywhere, not confining ourselves to any one sector of society, but going to "whosoever will hear & believe" us!--John 3:16. Whatever we do, we do it outright & openly.--And wherever we go, we make our goals & objectives clear, to bring people Jesus & the Gospel! When we meet & befriend people, we always make that evident, that we're there to witness to them & to teach them God's Word & to bring them Jesus!
The Bible says, "Whatsoever you do in word or in deed, do all to the glory of God!"--1Corinthians 10:31. And this is what we try to do! Jesus said, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me!"--John 12:32. We continually lift up Jesus & His Word & His Love wherever we go, in the hope of bringing folks to Him!
Q: But this is a Christian country!--Why should a group like yours be going to our nation's Armed Forces?
A: Because no one else did!--The church certainly didn't! The AFP were despised, rejected, defamed, lied about & virtually persecuted by the new government and by the
church, yet when we went to them, we found them to be spiritually starving for understanding, appreciation & hungry for the Lord, & very receptive & open to His Word & His Truth!--Some of the most precious people we have met, men of integrity & character, God bless them!
Q: Well, of course you were popular with them--with all those men--you sent your "flirty fishies" in there & they came to you for the sex you were offering & giving them!
A: That is a lie! We have personally met & gotten close to literally hundreds of men in the Armed Forces here, regularly giving them in-depth Bible studies from the Word of God, & teaching them Scriptural Godly principles, praying with them & fellowshipping with them, without going to bed with them!
Our objective is not taking people to bed, but bringing them to Jesus & teaching them God's Word! Sex is actually a very minor part of our lives & of our ministry.--As we said, our objective & goal is to bring people Jesus & to teach them about Him!
But if in the process of meeting people & trying to bring them to the Lord, we see that they have a desperate need, we try to do something to help them. If they are hungry, we will try to give them something to eat, if they are thirsty, we will try to give them something to drink, if they have fears, we will show them from God's Word how to have faith & that His Love will cast out their fears, if they have problems with their families or with their job or with this or with that, then we will try to counsel them, showing them the answers from God's Word!
One reason that our ministry with the men of the Armed Forces has been so fruitful is because we were able to easily relate to them and they to us. For we are an army also, a spiritual army, the Lord's Army, as the Bible says, "God has chosen us to be soldiers."--2Timothy 2:3,4. The Armed Forces of the Philippines, of course, are a physical army, battling in a physical realm. But in a way, they are also a spiritual army, the Lord's Army, because they are trying to defend this Christian country against the anti-Christ, anti-God forces of an anti-Christ ideological, political system, Communism!--And are also persecuted like us!
Q: Some have said that you are not really against Communism, but only pretend to be in order to influence the Armed Forces.
A: This is a ridiculous charge by someone who obviously knows little or nothing about our beliefs! We have always taught that Communism is not merely a political force or ideology, but a manifestation of "the spirit of Antichrist" & a fulfilment of Bible Prophecy! For according to the Bible, we are now living in the Last Days of Man's rule on Earth, & Jesus Christ Himself will soon return in great power & majesty, to forcibly destroy the anti-God forces of this World & establish His Own Heavenly Kingdom of Love on Earth!
But before Jesus returns, the Bible says that a great One-World government will arise headed by a powerful leader whom the Bible calls "the great Red Beast", the Antichrist!--Revelation 13. The Bible gives us many descriptions of this One-World government and they are a perfect description of Communism! Thousands of years ago, God's Prophets foresaw its economic & political policies, as well as its anti-God nature which is manifested by the way that Communist regimes have murdered, tortured, imprisoned, banished & cruelly persecuted literally tens of millions of Christians & people of other faiths who refused to renounce their religion & accept Marxism!
But this is a whole other subject, & if you like, we would be happy to give you some of our literature which proves from the Bible what a Satanic force of the Devil Communism really is!
While the church & its leadership here has sympathised with, favoured & in many cases openly collaborated with & joined the forces of Communism, condemning & crying out against the military, we have exposed the forces of Communism for what they really are, & have tried to give encouragement & inspiration to the military who have felt despised & rejected by the very people who should have loved, appreciated & encouraged them the most!--No wonder the military has received us with open arms!--We have gone to them with the Bible & have showed them what the Bible really says, not only about Communism, but also about defending their nation & being God's ministers who "bear not the sword in vain".--Romans 13.
While the Church & most other Christians have ignored, belittled, lied about & condemned the men in uniform of the AFP, we went to them openly & outwardly to bring them Jesus, & have sung for them, have taught them Bible studies, have prayed with them & done our best to encourage them.--And therefore literally thousands of them have prayed with us & asked Jesus into their hearts!
We have travelled to the different military camps not only in & around Manila, but also in the far-flung provinces, including the troubled areas such as Mindinao, where the men have received us with open arms & have been so grateful and thankful that someone cared enough to come to them and bring them songs of love and joy and peace and the happiness that can be found in Jesus, and to share with them the Word of God and to show them that somebody loves and cares for them and appreciates the good job they are doing!
Q: Why do you support the Libyan strongman & terrorist leader, Colonel Moammar Godahfi?
A: We don't!--He's well able to support himself!
Q: You know what I mean! Your group has obviously promoted & sympathised with Colonel Godahfi.
A: In some ways, yes, we have sympathised with him, because he is one of the few leaders in the World who has had the courage, conviction & sincerity to decry the crimes & sins of the wasteful Western World & their unjust policies to the poor, while at the same time condemning the anti-God, atheistic nature of the Communist World. We believe he is a very sincere & deeply-religious man. But this does not mean that we believe Godahfi is always right or that he always does things the right way, although we do believe he has tried to do what's best for his nation & people.
Of course, America & most of the Western news media have labelled Godahfi as the worst terrorist & promoter of violence in the World today. The U.S. even recently claimed they had "evidence" that Godahfi was responsible for terrorist acts in Europe, so they launched a massive air strike & bombing raid on his tiny country, murdering, maiming & wounding scores of innocent men, women, children & babies! Not long afterwards, the U.S. government admitted that all of the so-called "evidence" which linked Godahfi with recent terrorist attacks was absolute lies & fabrications by the American government!--Pure propaganda to deceive the World into believing that the U.S. was justified in bombing Libya!--So who is really the terrorist?
But as far as our "promoting" Godahfi or any other World leaders or political causes, that is absolutely false! We belong to & preach the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the one and only Kingdom that is truly just & righteous! The honest truth is that we are not on any political side. We are on the Lord's side, & believe that the only solution to the World's present political & economic chaos is the soon-coming Kingdom of Jesus Christ on Earth as described in the Bible!
Q: It has been rumoured that you are CIA operatives, bent on destabilising our country!
A: Ha! That is absolutely ridiculous! Anyone who knows anything about us knows that it is our firm belief that America has forsaken God, the Bible, Christianity & genuine religion, & has become one of the most wicked, apostate, unrighteous, violent & abominable nations on the face of the Earth! Way back in the 1960's we denounced America as a doomed nation which would soon receive the judgements of God for her selfishness, cruelties & horrible example to the rest of the World! She has led the World into the worst kind of wickedness, sexual perversion, horrible music, spiritual depravity, atheism, Satanism, devastating wars & all kinds of horrible things! We have boldly & openly proclaimed our beliefs & warnings regarding wicked America around the World, and America has rejected us & our message, and will no doubt soon receive the judgements of God they deserve! So to insinuate or imply that we would be working for America or for her CIA is absolutely ridiculous, to say the least!
Throughout the 20 years of our history, various newspapers have done everything from praise us to the Heavens to assign us to the depths of Hell, usually depending on which side of the political or religious spectrum they represent! Q: I have seen illustrations from your
publications depicting a woman actually making love with Jesus! How can you possibly explain such a sacrilegious picture?
A: We don't feel that such an illustration is sacrilegious at all! The Bible states clearly that all of God's born-again children are married to Jesus, & are the Bride of Christ!--2Corinthians 11:2; Revelation 19:7. The Apostle Paul wrote, "My brethren, you are free from the Law because you are married to Him Who is raised from the dead (Jesus), so that you can bring forth fruit unto God!"--Romans 7:4. Just like the Catholic nuns claim that Christ is their Husband, so we also accept this Biblical Truth, that we are indeed Jesus' Bride, & are spiritually married to Him!
So of course, like any good bride, we want to be fully submitted & yielded to our Heavenly Husband, to love Him & give Him our all, which means that we spiritually make love with Him, are intimately close to Him, fully receive & accept Him, so that we can be filled with His Spirit & with the "incorruptible Seed of the Word of God"!--1Peter 1:23.--So that we can have the inspiration, strength & power to "bring forth fruit unto God", to win others into His Kingdom!
Q: I have heard that your group believes that the Holy Spirit is a woman!
A: Well, what do you think the Holy Spirit is, a man?--That there are three men up there in Heaven running everything?--God the Father, Jesus the Son & a male Holy Spirit? We simply believe that God's Holy Spirit, His Spirit of Love, His "Comforter", is best represented by a woman, like a mother, than any other way! In fact, the Bible itself gives us this feminine portrayal of God's Spirit of Love!
In the first chapter of the first Book of the Bible, Genesis 1, the story of Creation, it says, "And God said, `Let Us make Man in Our image, after Our likeness.' So God created Man in His Own image, in the image of God created He him; male & female created He them!"--Gen.1:26,27. Here we see God the Father obviously speaking with someone as He's talking about making Man in "Our" image, after "Our" likeness. And then to show you what "Our" image & likeness is, it says, "male and female created He them!" So obviously one of the parties of the Trinity must be female, right? And we know God the Father & Jesus, the Son, are male!--So Who does that leave to be the Female of the Trinity?--The Holy Spirit!
A clear confirmation of this feminine portrayal of the Holy Spirit is also found in the Bible's Book of Proverbs, where God's Spirit is portrayed as "Wisdom": "Doth not Wisdom cry? And understanding put forth her voice? She cries, `Unto you, O men, I call; and My voice is to the sons of man. Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, & the opening of My lips shall be right things. For My mouth shall speak Truth. The Lord possessed Me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the Earth was. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth, while He had not yet made the Earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the World. When He prepared the Heavens, I was there, when He marked out the foundations of the Earth. Then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him!" --Proverbs 8.--Also the word used in the Bible for the Holy Spirit is "Ruach" in its feminine form!
But if you don't prefer or agree with this feminine representation of the Holy Spirit, that's fine with us!--It's really not that important whether you believe that the Holy Spirit is a male, a female, a pigeon or a dove! It's not a major doctrine with us, or something that we insist that people believe. It's the churches that have taken offense at our beliefs along this line, & who obviously enjoy wasting time & energy debating & arguing over such doctrinal differences, as they have amongst themselves for centuries!--Which is why there are so many different denominations within pitifully-divided Christendom today! Actually, we'd rather just agree with our brothers & sisters in the churches to love Jesus, to love our neighbours as ourselves & to get out & do our best to share that love with the rest of the World!
Q: Would it be possible for me to personally meet the elusive leader of your Worldwide work?
A: Ah, yes! In fact, I can take you to our leader right now! If you'd like to close your eyes & sincerely pray with me, I can take you to Jesus!--And He'll come into your heart & you will personally meet & know Him!
You know what I mean! I want to meet your founder, Father David!
I'm sorry, but I can't really introduce you to him, because I don't know where he lives, he hasn't told us. But even if he had, I wouldn't tell you, because he prefers to remain anonymous & out of the public eye.
But as I was saying, Jesus is really our Leader, & each of our communities is independent & free to follow the Lord however they please. This is the whole idea of our group: Each one of our members is supposed to personally know the Lord, and be filled with the Holy Spirit, so they can be led by the Spirit of God individually, so that each of us can find the answers and solutions from the Lord for our own individual needs & problems!
Unlike most churches, our work is not dependent on any particular individual, no personality cult, no man who has to be there all the time. Father David has tried to break us loose from any such man-made attachments & man-made dependencies where everyone depends on one preacher, one priest, one Pope or whatever. In fact, whenever we have tried to rely too closely on him or asked him detailed questions about our local works, he has constantly reminded us that that is our own business. He has always said, "You know your local situations better than anyone else, so just look to the Lord & His Word to guide you!"
Q: Is Father David like God to you?
A: No, of course not!--That's ridiculous! Father David is to us like the Apostle Paul was to the churches & groups of believers he founded. He is a concerned & loving spiritual father who writes us Letters to encourage, instruct, strengthen & inspire those he has helped bring to Jesus through his ministry of preaching the Gospel. Father David has continually reminded us that he is only a man, just like the rest of us, that he is merely an instrument of God, a channel that God uses. But he's not God!
Q: Do you think Father David is a Prophet of God?
A: Yes, I know for certain that he is a Prophet of God! Contrary to the beliefs of many churches, God is still alive & well, talking & speaking to His children! So many of Father David's prophetic predictions have been fulfilled, that it's obvious they are true prophecies & he is a true Prophet. When he receives a message or revelation from the Lord, he faithfully passes it on to us, just like the many Prophets & Apostles of old did with their flocks & followers. Although most church people think it's odd that we believe God still has Prophets through whom He speaks today, Jesus Himself promised that He would still send "Prophets & wise men" into the World, & the Apostle Paul says Prophets are an integral part of the living Church!--Matthew 23:34; 1Corinthians 12:28.
Q: Why is Father David so secretive? Why doesn't he come out in the open?
A: It's easy to understand why he prefers to remain in seclusion, considering how our dangerous & vicious religious enemies have harassed & persecuted us! As you know, Father David is quite old, so in order to have the rest & peace he needs in order to retain his health, he found it necessary to retire from the public scene.--Thus he is able to spend most of his time in peace & quiet, praying, hearing from the Lord & faithfully writing Letters of fatherly counsel to feed, inspire & help his children. Like almost all public figures have discovered, one of their most priceless possessions is their anonymity & privacy.--Otherwise they are mobbed by their fans--or enemies!
Q: Why do you believe & follow Father David's writings, the so-called "MO Letters"?
A: For the same reason that we believe & follow the Bible!--Because reading them has brought us closer to Jesus, & taught us countless spiritual lessons & principles about prayer, faith, following God, witnessing to & teaching others, Bible prophecy etc. He has also taught us countless practical lessons regarding health, childcare, safety, travel tips, vehicles, housecare, maintenance etc.!
Father David's Letters have not only provided us with the general training & instruction that we need in order to serve the Lord & preach the Gospel, but they have also helped to interpret & explain the Bible to us in such a way that we can practically apply it to our lives & put it into practice today! Who else has taught people today how to obey Jesus' commandments to "forsake all & go into all the World & make disciples of all nations"?
Besides, why should it seem strange that a religious group or church believes & follows the writings of its founder?--Look how the Early Church heeded & followed the Epistles of the Apostles.--And look how the World's hundreds of millions of Catholics follow the Pope's encyclical letters today!
Q: How do you know that Father David isn't living in luxury, while you are struggling along financially, living hand-to-mouth?--That's what all the leaders of other cults do!
A: As far as religious leaders living like kings while their followers live like paupers, it sounds to me like you're describing the leaders of the established churches & their multi-billion-dollar religious organisations, whose leaders live in pomp & splendour, wealth & luxury in gigantic palaces throughout the World while most of their people in those same countries are literally on the verge of starvation & about as poor as they can possibly be! Why don't you question some of them?
Besides, we know that Father David doesn't live in luxury, because often, when he's moved out of a house, apartment or trailer that he has been living in, he turns it over to the local Family members to use, so we know exactly how he lives.--Just like the rest of us! Unlike many modern big-shot religious leaders, Father David is not interested in fleecing his sheep, but faithfully feeds us the Word of God!
Q: Some reports have said that Father David is a power-mad false prophet, very much like Jim Jones, with whom some allege he used to be associated.--And that the Children of God could meet the same fate that the Jonestown members met in the jungles of Guyana.
A: That is absolutely absurd! For one thing, Father David never met nor had anything to do with Jim Jones in any way, shape or form!--And our lying enemies know that, but they like to circulate such rumours in order to try to besmirch & discredit & destroy us & our work & scare the public!
And unlike Jones & many other so-called "cult" & religious leaders, Father David has never taken the glory or credit for himself for any of the good that he has done! He gives God all the glory & Jesus all the credit for all of the good work that our Family has accomplished, & he gives himself all the blame for any of his mistakes. He has not exalted himself or wanted us to worship him or give him any glory in any way.--Which is why he has never published photos of himself, & has wished to remain as unknown as possible so that we might glorify Jesus the more, & learn to follow & depend on Jesus, & not any man!
Q: But if you believe that Father David is a Prophet & that his writings are inspired by God, then what would prevent you from repeating the Jonestown tragedy & all committing suicide if your leader told you to?
A: Your question is absolutely ridiculous & hardly deserves a reply! Father David would never tell us to do that! He is a loving father with great concern for our welfare, comfort, protection, safety & survival, & wants us to preach the Gospel in all the World until the day that Jesus Himself returns! Besides, we would never commit suicide! We are in the business of saving lives!--Not destroying or taking them! We believe that suicide is selfish, & that anyone who commits suicide is a coward & a quitter, robbing God of the life He has given them to serve others!
Actually, we have saved literally thousands of people's lives who were on the verge of suicide. Frequently the Lord has had us cross their paths just when they were about to give up on living, & we were able to give them a purpose for living by bringing them faith, hope & the Love of the Lord! We have found life, the best life there is!--One full of purpose & meaning, usefulness & helpfulness to others, bringing the life, peace, love, joy & happiness to others that we ourselves have found in Jesus!--So to even insinuate that we would contemplate suicide is preposterous, to say the least!
If you're so concerned & worried about mass suicide, why don't you do something to protest the way that the Superpowers are now threatening to end life for all of us with their suicidal, maniacal, demonic arsenals of nuclear weapons? They're threatening the whole World with a suicidal nuclear annihilation! But as for us, we've got a lot of living to do for the Lord before He calls us Home to Heaven, & we want to stay here as long as we possibly can in order to finish the great job He's given us of going into all the World & preaching the Good News of His Love to every creature!
Q: If Father David is really a Prophet of God, then why did his own daughter, Deborah, leave the Children of God & write a book in which she condemns her father as a false prophet & finds nothing but fault with your entire movement?
A: First of all, I should make it clear that Deborah herself did not write that book!--Her insane, demon-possessed, drug-addicted second husband wrote it as a vicious attack on us for firing him! Secondly, she didn't simply "leave" our group. She & her first husband, Jethro, & her power-crazed lover whom she has now legally married, Bill Davis, were excommunicated from our fellowship when they persisted in abusing their positions of leadership to the detriment & harm of our members in Latin America! It's a very long & sordid story which I'd rather not go into all the gory details of here.
Suffice it to say that when Father David began transferring the entire leadership of the Family to the grass roots level in 1978, Deborah & her husband Jethro were not willing to let the Family members in our Homes in Latin America govern themselves, but they acted very dictatorially, refusing to relinquish the hold that they had on the people whom they were supposed to be lovingly shepherding in our communities there. They were also very covetous, didn't hesitate to selfishly & unjustly take money, personal items, property etc. from many of our Latin American disciples.
Deborah's insane lover, Bill Davis, was also given to violent fits in which he would not only beat & bruise her, but also his young children & children of others, whom he cruelly mistreated & abused. By introducing Deborah to drugs, he soon had thoroughly captured & dominated her. This was all carefully covered up by Deborah herself until some of those who worked with them began to report & speak out about what was going on. As soon as their serious crimes were exposed & called to Father David's & the other Family leadership's attention, Deborah, Bill & Jethro were immediately removed from their positions of responsibility, as such offenses--mistreatment of disciples, violence, drug-taking etc.--are absolutely forbidden in our Family & punishable by excommunication!
Q: If Deb & Bill were guilty of such offenses, then isn't it possible that other members of your Family also do the same?
A: As soon as Deb & Bill's crimes were discovered, they were removed from our fellowship!--As will anyone else who claims to be part of us, but who wilfully breaks our rules & persists in such unchristian behaviour!
Of course, we are a very big Family, with over 1,000 different communities spread throughout the World.--And each of our individual communities & members are allowed a great deal of freedom & independence. Although we are sure that since the purge of 1978, nearly all of our members are good, whole-hearted, dedicated workers for the Lord who willingly & cheerfully follow our Bible-based rules, we can no more guarantee & accept responsibility for every individual's behaviour than the Catholic Church can be held responsible for every Catholic's behaviour! When someone falls or errs, he is helped & corrected. But if they persist in their disobedience, they are removed, as were Deb & Bill.
Q: Why shouldn't I take Deborah & Bill's word & believe what they say about you?--How do I know who is right & whom to believe?--You or them?
A: The answer is simple & can be found in Jesus' famous "Sermon on the Mount". He said you could know if someone was really of God or not by their deeds, actions & the results of their lives. He said, "Every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. For by their fruits you shall know them!"--Matthew 7:15-20. What are Deborah & Bill's fruits? Their most famous fruit, of course, is the corrupt, foul book they have written against the Children of God!--A book that is so full of over 300 horrible lies & false accusations--most of which were not even written by Deborah at all, but by her very bitter & resentful husband, Bill Davis--that there is no point in us even trying to refute them all, there are so many & they are so absurd! Like many of our religious enemies, instead of doing as Jesus commanded & preaching the Gospel, the Good News, to every creature, Deborah & Bill have now devoted their time & efforts to preaching the bad news, a negative message in which they condemn & criticise other Christians! Of course, writing & speaking against a controversial group such as ours can be a very lucrative pastime, and our powerful & rich religious foes have rewarded Deborah & Bill well for their false, twisted & contorted tirades!
If we further examine Deborah & Bill's "fruit" & where their backslidden & bitter condition has gotten them in the 9 years that they've been out of our Family, we sadly discover that her eldest son has served over one year in prison for armed robbery. Her next two children are confirmed drug addicts, & her 15-year-old daughter has been placed in a corrective institution for violent assault. This is the actual rotten fruit of Deborah & Bill Davis!
In contrast, what is Father David's fruit? Well, thank the Lord, I'm happy to say I'm one of his fruits!--A happy & thankful missionary delivered from a life of sin & emptiness, & dedicated to bringing the Love of Jesus & the Truth of His Word to all whom I can! In fact, thanks to Father David's faithfulness to the Lord in preaching the Gospel & feeding the Word of God to all whom he could, our Worldwide Family is now composed of over 12,000 fulltime missionaries who are preaching the Gospel in over 80 countries, & who have now won over 10 million eternal souls to Jesus Christ by preaching His Word in 60 languages to 120 nationalities, with over 3.2 billion pages of Gospel literature published to date!--And we're reaching countless more with God's Love & Word every day!
So although we feel sorry for Deborah & Bill, we must speak the truth & expose them for being the jealous, bitter, drug-taking, mentally unstable, unfit parents & backslidden Christians that they are!--Who, like Judas of old, have played into the hands of our powerful & wealthy religious enemies, & for a great deal more than "30 shekels of silver" have betrayed us in order to justify their having been with us in the first place, & to try to hinder & harm our work for the Lord!--But as you can see by our statistics, neither they nor anyone
else will be able to stop our phenomenal Worldwide work of God!
Q: Why do so many people who leave your group turn bitter against you?
A: Actually, those who bitterly turn against us like Deborah & Bill are the rare exception, thank the Lord! Most of the people who have been with us, but leave us for personal reasons, are thankful for the training they received from us, & they're certainly not bitter! Many continue trying to do their best for the Lord wherever they are, & still witness & share the Truth of God's Word with others whenever they have the opportunity. Many of them feel like old alumni, & are still interested & curious about the Family & what we're doing & what Father David is writing about. In fact, many of them faithfully contribute what they can to enable our missionaries to continue their ministries on the needy mission fields of the World & continue to receive & enjoy our publications.
Only a very few turn bitter against us, & even of those, many of them never intended to betray & tell lies about us, but they were compelled to because our enemies found them & virtually forced them to betray us in order to prove that they were no longer one of us in order to receive help from their churches! But all of the wild tales & distorted lies that some of our bitter backsliders & former members have told about us in order to excuse themselves for leaving can easily be refuted by any of our present disciples if you'd simply ask them if such things have ever been true.--Do you want the truth?--Or do you simply want to try to smear & discredit us by listening to & believing nothing but the lies of our bitter defectors & hypocritical religious foes?
Q: Why do your members try to conceal their true identity by adopting & using new names when they join you?
A: We don't choose new names to "conceal" anything! New members frequently take on new names when they join us for the same reason that many of the prominent characters in the Bible took on new names when they were converted or felt the call of God in their lives. God Himself frequently gave people new names: He changed Abram's name to Abraham, & Jacob became Israel, & the Jewish Rabbi Saul became the Apostle Paul! In fact, many nuns, brothers & priests in different Catholic convents & monasteries today do the same thing, & their "Sister", "Brother" or "Father" & "Mother" names are entirely new & different from their former legal names, so why pick on us? It was the common practice of the early Christians! Our new names are usually those of some Biblical or historical characters whom we admire, & these new names symbolise that once we've given our lives to the Lord, we are "new creatures in Christ Jesus", just as the Bible says!--2Corinthians 5:17.
Q: Some former members of your group have complained that they felt "imprisoned & isolated from the World" while with you, that they were unable to watch much TV, listen to the radio, read magazines etc.
A: Like any religious organisation with thousands of followers, we have certain rules of behaviour that our members are expected to follow. Granted, our rigorous schedule of Bible study, Scripture memorisation, prayer, witnessing & telling others about the Lord may seem "extreme" to some, but really now, what's the difference between what we and our members do, and what the average Catholic novitiate, seminarian, brother, monk or nun does?
When a young Catholic joins a monastery or convent, undertakes vows of poverty & "forsakes all", choosing to live communally with like-minded brothers or sisters, it is usually looked on as a very commendable decision & vocation. But when someone joins us and does virtually the same thing, it often creates a scandal! Why?--Because we're looked down on as a "cult" or a "sect"!
But we don't force anyone to become a part of us, they join us of their own free will.--And we let our members know from the start that being a fulltime missionary with us is a tough life & requires the utmost dedication & sacrificial love for the Lord! So for someone to leave us & then complain that they felt "isolated" from the rest of the World, & were unhappy because they weren't able to do all the things they did before they joined us is absolutely absurd!
Can you imagine how silly it would be if a Catholic priest or a nun grew weary with monastic life, left their order & went to the newspapers, complaining that the vow of poverty they had taken wasn't fair because it caused them to miss their favourite television shows and radio programs?--Or if they complained how "isolated" from the rest of the World they felt because their former boyfriends or girlfriends weren't allowed to visit & date them any more? It would be ridiculous, right?--Because when they first joined the order, they should have realised that there were certain rules & disciplines that they were expected to follow.
Well, it's the same with our members. Those who choose to serve the Lord with us know that they are expected to be dedicated, whole-hearted disciples of Jesus Christ! So such willy-nilly complaints from lily-livered former members who apparently never had the guts to be a part of us in the first place are absolutely ludicrous, & would be comical except for the fact that our enemies use & exploit such backsliders to try to further besmirch us & our work for the Lord!
If the papers want to pick on a "cult" that isolates its members, subjects them to strict discipline, demands total obedience to their leadership hierarchy, deprives them of the material comforts that they were used to in their former lives etc. etc., then why don't they pick on the Roman Catholic Church and its different orders?
Q: So much of what you believe & teach is difficult for me to accept, I don't know how I could ever become a "Child of God"!
A: We're not asking you to accept all of our beliefs & doctrines! But as we have repeatedly stated, despite our--for some--hard-to-swallow teachings & beliefs, our main emphasis has always been Jesus & His Love & His Salvation, & always will be!--This is what we preach the most & what has always been most important to us! So I hope that you will at least receive Him, because He alone is "the Way, the Truth & the Life!"--John 14:6. If you'll simply ask Jesus into your heart, you'll become God's child, regardless of whether you join us or not! The Bible says, "As many as received Jesus, to them He gives the power to become the children of God!"--John 1:12.
Salvation is just that simple! Contrary to many churches' teachings, it is not something that you can earn, work for or merit by your own good deeds or righteous works. The Bible says, "By grace (God's mercy) are we saved through faith, & not of yourselves, for it is the Gift of God.--It is not of works, lest anyone should boast!"--Ephesians 2:8,9. You cannot save yourself no matter how good you try to be!
There is nothing you can do to get saved except to simply receive God's Salvation by faith!--That's all! You simply have to humble yourself like a little child & acknowledge that you don't deserve it, that you're just a lost sinner, & that you want & need Jesus' Love, forgiveness & mercy. Then simply ask Him for it & He will give it to you! "For the Gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord!"--Romans 6:23.--And "Except you become as a little child, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven!"--Matthew 18:3.
Q: If that's the most important thing, then why don't you just teach Jesus & Salvation, & forget all your other controversial doctrines?
A: Jesus Himself also taught some very shocking doctrines that tried & tested people's faith, & even caused some of His disciples to desert Him! For example, when He told a crowd one day, "Unless you eat My flesh & drink My blood, you have no life in you!", His audience was absolutely appalled beyond belief! The drinking of blood was strictly forbidden to the Jews, as was cannibalism!--Which to them it sounded like He was preaching! The Bible says that, "Many of His disciples, when they heard Him say this, said, `This is an hard saying; who can bear it?' And from that time, many of His disciples went back & walked no longer with Him."--John 6:53-66. Yet this is still exactly what the Roman Catholic Church teaches & practices today in the Holy Mass!
But just because you find some of our teachings to be "hard sayings", & they are difficult for you to grasp, understand or agree with, please know that we are not asking you to be a disciple or condemning you because you do not agree with us. As we said earlier, we certainly don't expect everyone to give their lives to be missionaries the way that we do. But we sincerely hope that you will believe in & accept our main belief & the heart & soul of our entire message & movement, Jesus Christ Himself! He loves you & is knocking at the door of your heart, & will come in & give you forgiveness of sin, peace of mind, contentment of heart & a wonderful new life of Love if you will simply sincerely pray & ask Him to come into your heart!--Why not now?

So whom will you believe?--Us?--Or our vicious, self-righteous, hypocritical religious accusers & enemies? We have tried to be as open, honest & frank with you as we possibly can, & have addressed as many of the pertinent charges & accusations as we could cover in this special publication which we designed for you, so that you can know the honest truth about us, our message, beliefs & practices!
As we've mentioned, we do not expect you to agree with or accept all of our beliefs, but we do hope that you can at least see that we are genuine Christians who are sincerely doing our best to serve the Lord & bring His Love to all whom we can. For 12 years we have preached the Gospel in this beautiful country of yours among your wonderful people, & our Filipino members shall continue to do so. But because the governmental authorities have been relentlessly pressured by the religious leaders here--in the same way that the High Priests, Scribes & Pharisees finally persuaded Pilate to take action against Jesus--& are now determined to take legal action against us, our foreign members are leaving the Philippines!
Our religious persecutors would do well to remember history, what happened to Annas, Caiaphas & all the Chief Priests & religious rulers of the Jews who so cruelly persecuted Jesus & His followers: A short time after they had crucified Jesus, martyred many of His followers & cruelly hounded & driven them out of Israel, the judgements of God fell upon those wicked religious leaders as the Roman legions marched into Palestine! The Jews' Temple was burned to the ground & their priests & leaders were executed along with over 100,000 Jews who were crucified in & around Jerusalem! But God's children who had been expelled from Israel & were spread throughout the entire Roman Empire by that time, continued to prosper, winning millions of souls of every nation in a wonderful wave of the Love of God that swept the World!--Including Caesar's own household!
We ourselves confess that we are not perfect, that we have made our share of mistakes just like everybody else, for which God & others forgive us! But certainly any unbiased, unbigotted observer can realise that our thousands of faithful followers & the good results of our ministry around the World are sufficient proof that we are of God, that we are a good tree bringing forth good fruit!
Many of our dear friends & converts here in the Philippines, when faced with the recent flood of accusations & cries against us from our religious enemies, have replied like the blind man whom Jesus healed: When the Pharisees condemned Jesus and told the
formerly-blind man, "We know that this Man, Jesus, is a sinner!", the formerly-blind man replied, "Whether He is a sinner or not, I do not know: But one thing I do know, that once I was blind, but now I see!"--John 9:24,25.
Whether we are "sinners" or not, in your eyes or in the eyes of the Churches, is not the real issue here. The issue is, are we or are we not doing the Lord's work, bringing His Love to the lost, sight to the spiritually blind & His Truth to those who hunger & thirst for the real answers from God's Word?
Jesus said, "Judge not according to the outward appearance, but judge righteous judgement!"--John 7:24. Who is doing the will of God?--We, many of whom have left comfortable lives in our former home countries in order to obey Christ's command to preach the Gospel & share His Love with all whom we can throughout the World?--Or our self-satisfied, self-righteous, sanctimonious, hypocritical, holier-than-thou, religious persecutors who wallow in wealth & luxury at the expense of their poor congregations?
Jesus--just before they engineered His deportation from their land & from this World and this life--exposed the hypocritical religious leaders of His day, telling them, "Woe unto you, Scribes & Pharisees, hypocrites! For you make clean the outside of the cup & of the plate, but within you are full of extortion & excess! You blind Pharisees, cleanse first that which is within the cup & the plate, that the outside of them may be clean also! Woe unto you, Scribes & Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like unto white-washed sepulchres, tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but are within full of dead men's bones, rottenness & all manner of uncleanness & filth!--Even so, you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within are full of hypocrisy & iniquity!"--Matthew 23:25-28.
Who is right in the sight of God, those of us who appear to be "sinful" because of the extremes we are willing to go to to share God's Love with others?--Or those who live and luxuriate in their fine palatial mansions & preach their pious empty platitudes from their ornate pulpits, but never go out of their way to show the Love of God to the poor neglected folks who have become disillusioned, dissatisfied & disheartened with the blatant hypocrisy and religious fakery of a religious system that to many has lost its meaning, its purpose & its God!--You be the judge!

It has been a joy & a great blessing to us to have had the privilege of preaching the Gospel in this beautiful land of yours that for many years has become home to us, but from which we are now being cruelly uprooted with our families & many children by our cruel & heartless Satanic enemies!
