I understand. You describe the climate and the times very well. I've thought about that a lot. The 70's weren't so long ago, but 30 years is actually a huge chunk of time.
As an example of changing times: only 5 years ago having a cell phone was the exception. In the European country where I live, just about everyone over 12 has one now, and people act like they've always had them.
