i'm not suggesting that japanese teenagers have any more or less problems that any other teenagers. It was merely an interesting look at the cultural expression of the pressures and high expectations of western capitalist society. American teens express it in different ways like you said shooting up a storm at school and abusing alcohol and drugs.I'm sure that these teenagers are really a minority. It could even be beaten up by the media - it makes for a good story.
