Matt, thanks for your post. it's really good to hear from you. I often think about you and wonder how you are.

Yes, it's true you were seeking Jesus and still are. Yes, it's true we (members of the Family) found each other and it really was a beautiful thing, this bonding with kindred spirits. For some of us it wasn't all a 100% bad experience because there really were some special moments, together with some every precious souls on a similar journey. Sometimes it's hard to find anything that matches to the highs that we experienced.

While we may have been sincere in our journey, in our search, and even some of those "highs" were genuine spiritual experiences, it's also true that our sincerity and seeking was used and abused. The group was founded on false principals that could not hold up in the long run. To keep it going and keep everyone together it was necessary to live an illusion, to believe a lie. The leadership perpetuated that lie.

Matt, Berg lied about you.

Berg lied about Shula.

Maria egged him on to say very horrible things about you that weren't true.

It was all about money.

On the front cover of IRFers Beware it says "if you fail to tithe God will take a collection." If that isn't obvious enough a motive for publishing such a horrible full of lies against you and Shula, I don't know what is. It was all about money. Berg used you to frighten members into giving more money. This, after lying to us that it was alright to go home, take up system jobs, AND to send in a donation of ANY amount. We followed Berg's lead and all of a sudden we were guilty of crimes punishable by violent death according to Berg.

Of course you have a right to be true to the memory of Shula. Your children shouldn't ever have to read such horrible lies about her either. You should speak up and tell it the way it is. I am really happy that you are doing so.

Matt, hang in there, and DON'T ever believe the lie that you are a "weak sister" or a "backslider". You can't backslide from something that was wrong and rotten to the core to begin with. Those were words used to hurt you to your very soul in order to control you and silence you. From what I can see, you are a strong person, caring for your loved ones, working very hard, true to the end, and everything I hear about you is what a wonderful father you have been. There is nothing weak about that.
