When are "saved" people not saved?

Posted by Jude on May 19, 2002 at 20:22:14:

First, let me tell you a true story. This guy came into the Home we were at, was 'witnessed' to and led in the prayer. He prayed. A few days later he showed up doing some pretty bad stuff. Gotta hand it to the brother who commanded him to get down on his knees on the floor and told he better repent and REALLY get saved or he was going to hell. The guy did. And the second time, for sure and for real he got saved.

Oh....let's talk about all those FFing salvation stats where the guys get laid, bow their heads (no, not to perform oral sex, but to pray) and repeat after me. Sure, they all do. Duck your head, repeat after me. Hey guess what now? you're saved! I am? Oh yeah sure, heck look, I've already counted you on my monthly stats.

Let's talk about all the kids who were saved a la "Your Two Year Old Can Get Saved." And years later doubt it themselves. Heck! Why not? When they wake up to what a rotter 'Grandpa' was they throw the baby out with the bathwater. They doubt the whole thing.

Good thing is, they can still find the Lord on their own. Once you got it, you don't lose it. Unless you decide with all your heart to lose it.

Like Berg did. Then there's false prophets like Berg who say 'Lord Lord' and don't know the Bible from a hole in the wall. Their consciences are so seared they divorce themselves from Jesus and lay the brick road to hell willingly.

Did Berg ever know Jesus? Maybe. Or maybe he just knew all the ropes, was raised in Christian-speak. Knew that "Christiasn should witness." He pounded on that one fact so much that I suspect it was an outward show to hide the dead men's bones inside the whited sepulchre of his heart. Know what I mean? He was doing all the "works" but SR condemning all churches for not doing it (even tho, unknown to him, many were). Seems like Berg's outside was whited with good works for men to admire, while inside was fullof ravening and wickedness.

Either way, I don't expet to see Berg in heaven. You say, "Oh no no no, naughty. You can't judge. Only God can." Well, let's let JESUS judge this one, shall we? Mat. 7:20, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

Berg always pointed to the witnessing stats, and thank God sincere Family members STILL in tune with Jesus were winning souls, little thanks to Self-righteous, pompous Berg who sat goosing girls with his big toe while reading witnessing stats.

I wouldn't think anyone who's got problems or stumbles needs to doubt their salvation, and even kids who don't remember their salvation experience need to go through doubts. But let's call a spade a spade. Berg was a false prophet and he either never had it, or completely lost it.

I don't think most of us poor sinners need to worry about "losing" salvation. It's not something you "lose" like pocket change out of a hole in your pocket. But I believe a relationship with Christ CAN be willfully thrown away. And I believe Berg did exactly that, if he ever knew him.

Don't tell me about his "good fruits". I could give a tinker's DAMN for a hundred boxes full of inflated, make-believe "witnessing stats". The fruits I look at are the ruined lives of poor kids.
