Dear Matt:

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I can probably never fully appreciate how painful your loss was but my heart goes out to you and your family. One of the serious by-products that I got from Mo(DB) was the idea that everything bad or good that happened was a direct sign from God. When I left the family it was very hard for me to get out of that mind set. The Letter and the family's response to you is heartbreaking. DB always jumped on the negative used it to motivate others to do his will. The family often dumped those with the greatest needs. I learned that if I wanted to stay sane I had to look realistically and objectively at myself and realize that we serve a loving, forgiving and faithful God. The truth of it is that God is longsuffering to usward. We cannot stop evil from happening in the world but I believe that God does not beat and kill to correct or instruct us, his mercy endures forever. DB's harsh and vindictive ways do not line up with the Word so we do not have to pay any attention to them. Your loss, although horrific and crushing, probably had nothing to do with your service to God. Sadly the one source that was supposed to represent God's voice left you no comfort. To me that is a clear fact that God's truth was not in that letter DB wrote. DB has said that same type of thing about many others who had bad things happen to them. I really appreciate your post. If there is anything I can do for you do not hesitate to E-mail me or post something. Jesus does not throw away his children and you are His, bought with a price. God bless you and keep hanging onto Him!
