I like your ideas, but I don't have enough details. What do you mean by 'professional' exactly?

That word is used a lot, but do you mean graphics or content?

I say that because just as it is when it comes to people, great clothes do not necessarily make the person (look at the Family site :) even though "man [definitely] looks at the outward appearance" a GREAT deal.
In fact, since I work in the field of social psychology and particularly nonverbal communication I can tell you that all of us are very influenced by attractiveness REGARDLESS of...deeper issues.

Sometimes I think "professional" today means having those clothes to project a certain image. And that is true, as long as the image fits the content?
I live one hour away from Silicon Valley in CA and the P word is used extensively around here. :)

That said, I would like to know what you think, (again, graphics or content?) and lastly I think one centralized forum would be very hard to have. People are different, and they look for different things that make them feel comfortable.

To give you an example: I am not American, and have been in the US only for a while. I sometimes find the all American fundamentalist/Christian approach tiring, because it is also a cultural trait that many Europeans do not share.
I also am not a baby boomer and get tired of being around only American baby boomers, because the age factor makes a big difference, whether people realize it or not. Again, I was never a hippie, etc etc. I am just talking about me, to give an example, I am sure others can talk about themselves.

What I mean is that there is variety in the identity of people who were once members of the F and that variety wants to be acknowledged and respected, especially when you think of the kind of Orwellian dictatorship we lived in when in the group.

Ok, so let me hear from you now!
