(Rocky's answer:)

As a validated victim of sexual and physical abuse by Catholic Clergy I have spent a number of years and many counselling sessions dealing with this issue.

As you say, the major difference is that the Family held sexual abuse of children as a doctrine. This is rare in any organization and often associated with ritual cults involved with witchcraft(not Wicca), Satanists or disfunctional paganists. In the darker side of such worship open sexuality and dancing naked together was not unheard of and could escalate into blood rituals. ie: Beating Mene during exorcism (sp) and deliverance prayer sessions (also think about one particular Mo letter cover picture showing a naked group dancing around in a circle: One Wife)

Catholic's in their doctrines are opposed to sexual abuse very intensly and most are ashamed and deeply disturbed by what abuses have ocurred in their church. I recently met with Archdiocese staff in Vancouver to discuss this issue. I also have studied the church's policy on sexual abuse. Currently the archdiocese has an articulated policy on abuse. It is very clear that they will report cases of abuse to the authorities. They also will support victims and address the matter openly in ways that will not hurt the victims further.

I am not an apologist for the Catholics but it is important to follow up on what they are doing about sexual abuse. If anyone has a right to address these issues I as a victim have that right. I believe the church is waking up to the reality of what happened. They clearly recognize they made numerous errors in the way they dealt with the abuse.

The family will never do this. The top leadership have always lied without any thought or concern and they will continue to do so. They always talk about how God will get you if you disobey. Funny that Maria is blind and Berg died a raving drunk and was always sick in mind, body and spirit.

In reality there is no comparison between the family and the Catholic church. The per capita cases of abuse in the family are probably in double digit percentiles( at least 10% ). The per capita cases of abuse by Catholic Clergy are no more that 1% of the serving clergy and most likely much lower. Priests also are going to jail for abuse. In the long run these cases could cost the church multi-billions.

I hope family members and ex'rs who are toying around with their position on abuse and family doctrines realize just how serious this issue is. If you support family doctrines you will be seen and viewed as someone who supports child abuse!

Think about the fact that most pedophiles are always looking for ways to penetrate social structures to abuse. Berg had it made as a pedophile. He not only did his own family but he developed a whole organization that would willingly allow him to abuse their children and even lie to authorities about it in servitude to him so he would not get caught. For a God damned pedophile that is about as good as it could possibly get! The victims parents also supported him in his old age and made sure he was never charged or arrested for his crimes. His current leadership who enabled Mo and allowed abuse to take place are walking among us as free men and women still teaching these lies in one form or another behind the myth that the abuse was generated by a few bad members. Make no mistake about the level of wickedness here. God help us all to do what is right!
