I'm not so fond of traditional Christian interpretations of heaven and hell anymore. I have a hard time reconciling the God of Love as one who throws us into some lake of fire to burn forever. I am more inclined to believe hell or heaven is a continuation of human choice, the consquences for the path you chose in life.

If we choose something which is negative and detrimental to our soul, we change the chemistry (so to speak) of our very being, and our disintegration begins.

In order to prolong our own life when we are cut off from the source of Life itself, we are faced with feeding off of other life forms, even turning canibalistic. That's why some people who are on the "dark side" are spiritually draining because they feed off your energy and life force like spiritual vampires. It's probably the reason for anything from serial murders to pedophilia, the reason why perverted souls find temporary power in consuming or tormenting other souls. It's a dark power. Some people manoeuvre themselves into positions of power just so they can feed off of other people, rather than use their place to lead them and feed them.

What I believe might be compatible with Christianity in that I see in the beginning God gave us life, and we humans made choices to screw it all up. So then he gave us Jesus. Since as a rule for survival we have to feed of of other life forms to prolong our own life, feeding on Jesus, provides us with eternal life. So we don't have to be spiritual blackholes sucking from everyone else.

The movie "what dreams may come" has a depiction of heaven and hell that I agree with.

Heaven is what you make it out to be. I don't think God gave us all that creativity for nothing.

Am I too unchristian for this board?
