To Kathy J, Achiek, Texas Ray

Thanks for responding to my post about my son being in jail. I didn't see them until today when WC brought it to my attention on Lolo's board. I appreciate your answers, really. Kathy, what you describe sounds just like where my son is. When he does call, I can barely hear him on the phone because of all the noise. He tells me that it gets worse when they lock them up for the night because then everyone is yelling back and forth to each other. The lights are always on, the food is horrible. He does have account which we are putting money into - then he can get some snacks to eat. Thank God that he finally can sleep on a bed and not on the floor - with no pillow besides. I have to say that they did take good care of his infected arm and gave him antibiotics.

I visited him last week for a couple hours with one of my daughters. He was so happy to see us and would not let us leave even 2 minutes early. He begged us to stay until the guards made everyone leave. We had to shout back and forth through a thick glass wall. He only gets 1 visit a week, but it can be up to 3 visitors. This week I think 3 of my other kids are going so I will wait until the following week to see him again. I pray desperately for him. He is getting depressed because all the other people around him are coming and going, but he is just stuck there. Actually, I am very content with this because whatever time he is serving in jail now will count after he is sentenced. And I would rather have him serve more time here locally than get sent further away.

He has 2 public defenders now and will have 2 court dates. I am sure he will do some months for violation of probation, but the public defender seems to think he can get the burglary charge dropped to trespassing as they never actually entered the house. But I have been praying that he would not get the harsh judge and he didn't, thank the Lord! One of the judges is under investigation for his harsh sentencing after he sentenced a young kid to 25 years in the state penitentiary for stealing a $30 CD player from a store. I was praying the Lord would not let him have that judge, and the he doesn't! I am very happy about that!

So thanks, all of you, for answering my post. I wish that NONE of us had these experiences, but if this straightens him out, it will certainly be worth it because right now he is headed down the wrong path. But I'm getting too old for this kind of stuff!
