You're right Micron,
It was lie lie lie all the time. We lied to landlords about the use of their property. We lied to provisioning contacts and litnessing victims concerning the nature of our "work". We lied to our relatives, we lied to our "sheep" and to our "kings". We even lied to ourselves in order to justify and excuse everything that we knew was wrong.
There are many very nice people in the family, but as long as they are there, even without fully realizing it they are caught up in a terrible web of lies.
