Once you get out from under that veil of dogma and seclusion, things start falling into place and bam, it hits you right between the eyes. I think the problem in how long it takes to see it is in how much we are willing to face. It's a hard to thing to face, the idiocy and wrongness of it all and "how could I have been so stupid and wrong" - some people just can't bring themselves to face up to it.
