A civilized talk about the underlying issues

Joseph seems to be taking flak for being friendly toward people in the Family. I sure understand where exers are coming from who are bothered by that. Every hint of friendliness to Family members smells like compromise. And the big question is why in Sam Hill would any thinking person close their eyes and compromise with a rotten system that sexually abused kids and destroyed lives in victor camps and oppresses its own members to this day?

I don't think you can befriend the group as a whole. it is a rotten system, ready for the burning pile.

BUT ... I don't think Joseph is wrong in befriending individual people. We were people in the group once too. I hope most of us still are. (Still are "people" I mean.) And wasn't it friendship with outsiders that showed us there was a way out when we were ready to make the jump?

If people are compromising and kissing Beg's pefofile feet that sucks bigtime. I also don't think anyone can have a "real" relationship with anyone in Family PR or leadership. They're real people way, way way down deep inside but anyone who befriends Family top dogs has got to know that first and foremost these leaders are political animals and PR is a huge part of why they get out of bed in the morning and sometimes the ONLY reason they'd ever have a non-Family friend.

I think you can befriend individuals as long as you make it clear to them that you don't have the wool over your eyes as far as how crappy their evil system is. Look, these people will be out some day. Do you treat them like crap now and blast them now and then hug them when they walk out the Home door?
