Well Joseph, first of all, Goth is short for Gothenburg Sweden, not for Marilyn Mansonism. Second, which community are you speaking of when you say that misery is rewarded and accomplishment is looked down on? If you mean the exFamily board community,I see a lot of recent posts that focus on accomplishment as well as "getting the Family out" of us, for some. Yes you would have to be in to fully understand that one. If I had a husband with prostate cancer, I could understand alot about it, but I could never fully understand what it was to experience that, not being a man. This does not mean that I don't believe you have a lot of involvement with Family (exers and I don't know about current),or that this experience gives you a much more intimate knowledge of the family. I will grant you that it does. To me, accomplishment is not just in financial status or success. IMO. A person could be a janitor, happy with their life, and live a good life, and be successful.
At the same time, I realize that there was someone who was friendly to me while I was in the family. But his friendliness extended to critical thought about what Berg did to his daughter,(Re. the letter: If the truth kills let it kill") etc. I was not ready to receive that, but I did think about it. Therefore I could be friendly in that way. Otherwise, the modus operandi of family has been to cater to people who have money (and/or skills) that you can use, or that are potential "diciples". So the only thing positive i can see about the family is getting out of it, or getting it out of me. I have never attacked your wife or you.
