I was in Amway... my opinion: Very cult like, and/or cultish.

This was right around the time Jane and I first started living together when she just left The Family. I tried my best to ignore it, then I got sucked in full force.

It is one of those organizations where you are encouraged to eat, drink and sleep it. Your job just becomes a place to find people to talk into either becoming a distributor or buying the products.

Pretty quickly, you burn through your friends, family and co-workers and you end up sitting at the bar of the restaurant instead of a table, so you can prospect the strangers who sit down next to you.

Jeez... I had mostly forgot about that episode of my life.

We actually did pretty well, and established a downline. But, then our sponsor didn't like the size of the bonus checks we were getting, so he just stopped paying us. Amway said, "Well.. we paid him, so you have to go after him". We just quit instead and promised never to do anything like that again.

I have the distinct impression that the Activated program is set-up something like Amway. I don't have complete details, but what I have heard sounds like Family members can set up distributors who are not in the Family and make income from their sales.
