Are F. members victims?

Posted by Acheick on August 19, 2002 at 08:16:28:

Just when is a F. member a victim or a perpetrator? I was thinking about this and reading up on some old posts. Someone made a very good point. They were talking about how they used to think that most F members were just victims, but in the past few years they have all consciously had to take many pledges of loyalty to M&P, and have all been invited to leave the F if they disagreed with things. M&P have made it very difficult for people to stay in if you do not believe in them and the doctrine. You even have to sign on dotted lines now. At what point does accountability for your actions kick in? In the f, there is little acountability, no fostering of a sense of accountability. This permits members to do things that you could never get away with in the real world. If there had been a culture of accountability in the F, thousands of young people would not have been abused. I agree with this poster I am referencing from that there is a place for shoving the crimes and other weirdness into the faces of F. members, and asking them how they deal with it. Asking them how they can condone this. How can they condone the actions and teachings of their leadership, both past and present? And I especially think it is a good idea to get in the face of leadership, the people who actively promote the oppression, and hold them accountable and expose their lies, deceptions and crimes. The leadership is the issue. The leadership has made themselves the issue. You're not supposed to be in the F., at any level, if you do not unconditiionally believe everything they write. So, every F. member is, by staying in the F., directly endorsing the actions and teachings of Zerby and KP, and I think they need to be held accountasble for that endorsement.

This is a paraphrase of an old post and I hope the poster doesn't mind me plagerizing him/her. You know who you are ;-)

Anyway, the point is, if anyone is entertaining F. members, and especially, especially top leaders, they have a responsibility to throw these things in their faces, make them feel accountable and if they don't they become parcel and party to the oppresions and abuses these leaders are actively involved in day in and day out. I feel strongly about this and I'm not changing my position. And that's my rant for the day.
