I performed a marriage ceremony for two gay friends (females).

One was a performer in a play I was directing. She had heard that I was an ordained ULC Minister, and asked if I would do her wedding.

It was a full blow event. We did it down at a gay church in L.A., one of the Father's came and gave his daughter away. Jane was pregnant with Erin at the time, so here I was... the "gay" minister with a pregnant wife. A confusing picture to say the least.

It was strictly ceremonial, since the state of California does not recognize same sex marriages.

I actually favor the idea of legal same sex marriage. My thinking on this is that we have a separation of church and state, and the state should look at marriage as a contract for domestic partnership. I do not favor forcing churches to perform the ceremony. But, I do think that denying a marriage license based on sex or sexuality is discrimintory. I can't deny employment based on that, why should the state be allowed to be the only ones who can discriminate?

I do have very strong feelings against any adult who acts as a sexual predator against minors (kids or teens). I have a personal opinion that gay males act on attraction to teens on a more frequent basis than straight males or any type of female. I will admit that I have no statistical data to back this up. It is just personal observation, of what appears to be acceptable and encouraged behavior in that community. It doesn't help that gay teenagers seem all too willing to sleep with older partners. I'd imagine that being gay in the typical american high school makes it hard to openly date. However, in this society, we have a rule that says 18 or over (at least in most states, I think it is still 14 in Hawaii). Under that rule, a person who is not of age is not legally able to give consent for sex, and if you have sex with them it is considered a form of rape. Although that is different from state to state, here in California if the victim is an older teen, it is called "Unlawful Sexual Intercourse".
