confusion and christian anarchy? from below up here

Posted by marina on April 18, 2002 at 09:33:32:

dear ray,

I read on NDN your post to someone asking her if she was 'weeping.'

?

That reminded me very much of the rhetoric used by the F and other religious groups when in denial about coming to terms with their criminal conduct and looking for a loophole to get away with the 'reward' of what they have done. It seems to me that you are a very loving guy, but are somewhat confused as to the issues on the table.

What are your thoughts concerning the criminal justice system, and if you were "god" how would you implement a system to (at least attempt) protect the disempowered and innocent from criminals and 'evildoers' (there are quite a few around, you know?) who not only do not give a shit about how their deeds damage the victims(because there is always 'love' of course) but are totally unrepentant.

What is that verse about sentences not executed speedily? Is it possible that to talk to you one has to resort to find a verse to show you just how real and dire the issue of crime is? Is this some sort of personal confusion or denial?

Are you going to ask me now if I 'weep?'

You should see me most of the time, still taking care of the willful damage some have perpetrated, as a single parent, how much I weep. There are some periods that not a day goes by without me having a good cry. This is one of those periods. I do not need to post that to show off to anybody.

How is it that you can easily minimize the plight of innocent victims and concentrate instead on love for perpetrators? I am sorry for perpetrators too, I guess, I am sorry for all humankind, but when it comes to specifics and individuals all the love of god never promised people that they would not be accountable or responsible for their deeds, (me included) if these deeds are so seriously criminal to warrant their being apprehended. Is this so hard to understand?

What is it with some of you lovey-dovey at any cost people that you just cannot understand that making people accountable for a crime IS a godly deed or better yet, a moral imperative?

I hope you are following the developments of the Catholic Church public "indictment." The politics coming to light resemble the denial and utter disregard for human life and decency we have seen in the F and do not remind me in the least of anything close to "Jesus."

But I would suspect you feel terribly sorry for the loving priests who are accused of let's see, 230 counts of molestation? Do you have an idea of what some of those victims are *still* going through? There is site online about victims of that abuse, I cannot remember the acronym but you can make a search. That may give you more to weep about. I cry when I read these stories. I know what that is like.

I know you are such a nice guy and that is why I would like for you to explain your seemingly christian anarchy. We had said that on this board we would not have to explain what 'abuse' is, but maybe this is more an explanation about the dynamics of reaping and sowing. If I understood you wrong, then pls set me straight on some of the above. Thank you.

With no ill feelings, and just a sense of bewilderment,

marina
