I wish I had heard that when I left, about 12 years ago - would have saved us a lot of problems if we had been able to be prepared ahead of time. That was excellent advice. My first job when we left was the pull-up window at Wendy's. They did give me $1 more than the others because of my age, but if you keep doing your best, even at the mediocre jobs, you will get some great references for the jobs that really count.
