When I think about it, some of the ideals we learned weren't bad. What was bad is that we were never living them! Our purpose WAS to exist to feed Berg's distorted ego. We preached love and freedom when in truth our basic moves and schedules were highly organized and regimented. What is loving about sex for gain (for the family)? What is free about travelling all around when you are carrying the daily pressure of where you will sleep? Or if you are not travelling, the daily pressure of who you might end up having to sleep with, or spend a few hrs with? The worst lie is to take good ideals and twist them to perversions and distortions and have people truly fearing that they are displeasing some greater power who knows their every thought and move and will possibly kill them or their kids or someone close to them if they make the wrong "choice". It was all crap. Survival is a motivator. Altruism does exist. Just not in abusive cults, imo. I totally agree about the false and sick versions of selflessness and that many churches etc are sucked into that. I think now what helps me is to know that it is perfectly fine to be angry or sad or any other emotion that I have. Happy is far more than a facial expression. What do you remember about the Berg dream (upside down world)?
I have noticed how things pop into my head (like the witnessing to cows thing that occurred) and I had forgotten completely about any letter related to that. Now that I remember, (from what others wrote) it fills in another part of the puzzle. I guess it's all part of getting that family shit out of us. Do you think that David Berg was a product of incest? I wonder. I really believe that he was at least dropped on his head one too many times...
