I apologize

It seems that every time I go away for a vacation, something urgent happens that requires my immediate attention, and I am not here to give it. That'll teach me to take it easy and enjoy life... :-p Actually I was out of town working, but I had no access to a computer all week.

When I left this time, I had anticipated possible problems and left in full confidence that the coordinators were well equipped with administrative tools should they need to delete posts or shut down the board.

Unfortunately, the well-tested scripts I had written had never been tested on our new look site. Due to restructuring of directories and my oversight, they were rendered useless, and the coordinators were left helpless to intervene when things were way out of hand.

I am of the opinion that many lines were crossed these last few days, and many of the posts did not belong in the public domain nor fall within the scope of this board. Mistakes were made on "all sides."

Sometimes, I believe bulletin boards are overrated. They are certainly not the best tools for handling some of the delicate sensitive matters of the kind we were dealing with this week.

So once again, I am sorry for leaving everyone in a lurch and for any trouble I may have caused in the lives of real people, through neglecting to change a few lines of code. I just wanted to post this for now. I will get back to this later if I have more thoughts to share. Right now, I have 150 emails to read, of which probably 40 were related to what happened here this week, and I have 100s of messages to read through, and policies to fine tune, programs and scripts to fix and test...

Peace to you all!
