I see your point, however......

Are you then truly saying that all of us are "desperately wicked"? Do you genuinely believe that? I take your doctrinal viewpoint but think you really need to see the big picture. Simply quoting Scriptures is not providing answers if they are not quoted in full context. I know those Scriptures well, as you do.

You quoted: "let God be true, but every man a liar." Uh huh. But you failed to quote the Scripture where David said, "I said in my HASTE, all men are liars."

And even the context of that verse you quoted is to say that trust God before every man. Men tell the truth but when it comes to a choice believe God first. Well, you gotta admit, that's a no brainer. But how does that rule out listening to our God-given God-implanted consciences?

You quoted Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one"

But "not righteous" doesn't mean foaming at the mouth desperately wicked. It simply means, according to the Greek word for sin, that we've "missed the mark." We've "fallen SHORT of the glory of God." Well, of course we have! Who can compete with God? But that is by no means a proof text for us being "desperately wicked, so don't trust your gut instinct, conscience or heart".

You quoted Rom 3:11 "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God." Well sheesh. If none of us was seeking after God, how did we get saved?

Obviously this passage is talking about the dyed-in-the-wool wicked. Please let's quote verses in context.

You quoted Rom 3:13 "Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips." and verse 15, "Their feet [are] swift to shed blood."

Come on now, can you honestly say this is true of every person on earth you know? Poison of asps under the lips of everyone on earth? Everyone on earth SWIFT to shed blood? Are your unsaved relaties SWIFT to shed blood? is the mailman who delivers mail to your door SWIFT to shed blood? Are there a dozen murders every week on your street?

It's easy to quote those verses, but it's important to quote them in context. Far too long by Family habit we automatically whipped out our "proof texts" with little thought to their context.

You did ask some other good questions, however (how did we not tune in to how bad the Famlily was?) which I'd like to address in another string of posts.
