In the late 70s during the fellowship revolution period there was a limit of 2 glasses per day. This was later cut to one glass per day but no one I knew really respected either limit when they were "free".
The limit began to be enforced (in Asia) at the time of the Faithy Holocaust in Japan. By 1985 we were limited to one glass of wine per week (on freeday).
