Public School vs. Private Schools

I understand your concerns. After leaving the Famly I married & my wife & I at first put our kids in a Christian school, even though public school was "free" since we pay taxes. For the first 2 grades the school was good & we liked the values it taught our kids along with the cirriculum. But after grade 2 they had too many students & only a couple teachers, which is nuts, so we moved our kids to a public school. It was mostly a financial decision.

We have found public school no problem. My daughter is in grade 3, my son in grade 1 and contrary to the horror stories Berg told, it's been just fine with no demon-possessed teachers cackling as they shove Charles Darwin down our kids' throats. Many of the teachers in the public school system are Christians and the others are fine people.

Public schools are VERY accountable to parents and the public, so tho bad stuff happens sometimes as in in place, things can be rectified. In the Family there was NO accountablility, and like someone said below, you had to stand by and wince while the teachers beat your kids and told them their parents were not their parents.

Public school has been just fine, hunky-dory. We have zero complaints at all. Mind you, there are SOME public schools in more dangerous areas of a city, so try to choose one with a better location. As a Christian, I'd say have absolutely no fear of putting your kids in public school. If the values you teach them at home stick with them, you won't see them in much trouble, at least in the early grades. Of course later they start making their own choices, but you can build the foundation.

I've found myself having to explain a few things to my son (6) earlier than I'd expected, like, "What does it mean when kids stick their middle finger up?" but these things can be explained. My kids are doing very well, are settled in, do not have to compromise their faith, and know the difference between right and wrong.

If you encounter any problems, please post and I'll try to see if I know anything about it.
