I haven't studied specifically about lack of nutritious food and sleep and a high intake of starches and simple sugars being used as a brain-control method, but,

It is true that when your body isn't getting what it requires it will become sluggish, not operate properly and be more prone to fatigue, depression, lethargy and you begin to lose your will to live and to continue striving. Your body requires good food and quality nutrition to perform at its best. Even in the Bible story of Daniel when they refused to eat the poor diet of their captives, but insisted on sticking to their higher quality diet, they flourished with more keen minds and abilities. So yes, I guess if you wanted to gain control of peoples, you can begin by attacking their diet.

Could you say that this is happening in certain societies where natural food has taken a back seat to sodas, white sugars, refined flours and lack of exercise. What about the increase in add/adhd, can most of this be linked to diet and living habits. In my opinion, yes. Where I live, children rarely have these sort of behaviour problems. They do have behaviour problems, without a doubt, but ADD/adhd is not recognised here and no drugs are given for it. The children spend a lot of time outdoors and their diets consist of a lot of fish and little oil. Things sadly are changing though and McDonalds is ever-popular, but for now, it is rare to see obesity and some of the illnesses that are more obvious in other countries.

Of course, this country has its own unique problems as well.

If your body doesn't receive its proper nutrition, it begins to shut down, it robs it from other sources in the body 'Peter to pay Paul' and when you have used up your natural sources, your body gives up and illness comes in. In a majority of cases, most chronic illnesses and severe diseases can be linked to bad nutrition, lack of hygiene, and perhaps the environment (toxin wastes, petrochemicals, pesticides...)

Old food, esp. fruits and vegetables, that have been sitting exposed to the sun and air for a long time, have probably lost many of their nutrients, not to mention the chances of toxins building up in them. Of course, the best way to eat many foods is right before the 'rotten' stage, such as 'nato', the Japanese fermented soy bean which is one of the best forms of nutrition you can find. It is alread pre-digested and requires no extra enzymes of help from your body to be absorbed.

Lack of sleep of course would contribute to tiredness and a loss of mental abilities, a lot of starch of course is very detrimental to your body, giving you a quick but short energy boost, whereas a protein will give you a long lasting energy boost. And then yes, throw in some yelling leaders, long meetings, etc, and you are probably mentally unprepared to think for yourself and make your own decisions.

Perhaps that answer was longer than you needed. Hope all is well!
