What got us hooked??

The mind control did it. Our minds were manipulated to accept Mo as God's prophet and his directives as absolute truths. He took over our belief system. The slow boil, starting with harmless generic truths, gradually progressing to the more radical doctrines and all the scriptures misused to foist overwhelming guilt and fear. We got trapped by our own good intentions, our own idealism and our desperate longing to believe that we were indeed the chosen ones. But the paradox is that our "submission" to all this was NOT and intellectual decision but an emotional one. That so many normally intelligent people join cults is beside the point. But then again, judging from the postings, there are a good number of brilliant minds in this exfam bunch. Brilliant and emotional, what an exploitable combination.
