there is something to be said that experiences such as you encountered can shock one into some self realizations. but wouldn't you agree that your reaction was in part due to steps you had already taken to distance yourself physically and emotionally from the group? but understanding the thought processes of fammems, when the attack comes in the form of harrassment of behavior that has little to do w/ the abuses that are at issue, and in fact seem to fulfill the prophecies that are hot off the press, than i personally don't see what has been accomplished. folks will be shier about behavior that may well lead them to freedom...at least that would appear to be a strong possibility.

as far as their tithe supporting ws, well, theoretically you have a point. (why thoreau went to jail for not paying taxes.) but in all practicality, unless they actually leave the fam. those cherub $ will be soon replced by carwash $, and ws won't miss a beat pubbing the important news from the spirit world.

perhaps those involved will come to a rude awakening about how their efforts are undermined by their assoc. w/ the ykw, ..that would be a good thing. but my feeling is that attacking the behavior you actually object to makes more sense.. and if people are doing something positive and moving towards a more independent place, then an encouragement towards continuing down that path would do more to help (at least it would have been to me!) than a puzzling strike at something that would be applauded if the producers were not fammems.

i personally like many famems, and find that they actually appreciate being related-to not as an amorphous "THEY", but as individuals. an us-them mentality seems to me to be not only unhelpful, but also wrong. (in fact it is one strtegy that db fed in the group!) i often read statements to the effect "THEY do this!" or "THEY do that!" and it strikes me "well who exactly? do THEY ALL do it? why not try to be more exact, so conviction can be specific? it reminds me of the old oft quoted Pogo cartoon..."we have seen the enemy, and we is it!" aren't "we" "them" just a few splashes of grace further along?

there is that whole do unto others business...can't we of all people relate to the mindset that fammems are saddled with?

ok...blast me.
