It's a shakedown. They're grubbing for cash & robbing their own people.
About the States, someone correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that no Family member is allowed to save up money apart from emergency funds EXCEPT if they're preparing to go to a missionfield & are saving up their funds. I've heard from a recent ex-member that many members, particularly SGAs will SAY they are heading to a missionfield simply because they want to be able to save up some cash. They have no intention of going to a missionfield.
Still others hop around from Home to Home around the world, treating Family membership like membership to some club that provides hostels in countries around the world. I don't blame them. I'd personally get out but then the SGAs have never known another lifestyle to they milk it for all it's worth. Milk on boys.
