In my opinion the problem with guilt is that it happens. It is not like you decide to feel guilty, you don't hop in a guilt cab, start the meter and get off when you feel like it. It takes time to sort these things out I think. Remorse is also part of the picture. Everyone is different to some degree in how they deal with it. I also am not talking about the type of guilt used by cults to keep someone in. That form of guilt is not really stand alone indivdually felt guilt but based more on a combination of fear, supposed consequences and projected guilt by the manipulating individuals or group. The issue for me really has nothing to do with the act of leaving but more that act of realizing you lived a lie and dealing with the external and internal consequences of that fact. In the matter of members still in. When they are a loved one or a very close lifetime friend the issues are more complex I think.

Thanks for your response
Sincerely
