"but if there would have been more people then who thought like I do, then maybe they would have spoken up and left, taking as many as they could with them. "

There were. I was one of them. I took others with me when I left, and I influenced a lot of people to leave later. But timing - oh how it takes time sometimes - even after my realization that Berg was full of shit, I stayed in for a few years, until I was sure I could leave with my immediate family intact.

Remember this, that for every one disciple in the COG, there were 100,000 that saw the lit, heard the message, got approached and said, "Bullshit, what a loada crap!" And for every 1 disciple, there were 1000 sheep who got curious befriended the COG and said "Whoah, I liked what you said up until now, see ya later, I'm outta here!" And for every 1 disciple who stayed for years, there were 50 - 100 who stayed for a few hours, days or months and said, "Fuckit! This stinks!" and left.

"Maybe they could have salvaged something of the original ideals that inspired it all in the first place. I wish we could start again. Knowing what I know now, I would still try again."

Some of us have moved on and continue to do genuine charity or aid work. And if they are burned out on "do-good" stuff, I really can' blame them. Some exers left without even their faith intact. This is true for many "SGAs."
