- the point of asking the purpose of your post was to try and understand the purpose behind it. usually i try to write things to express a thought to a specific person or persons, with a goal of meaningful communication. i found your post to be very far from my perception of the actual attitudes, beliefs, and practices w/in the general membership of the family today. (admittedly, most of the contact i have w/ fammems is w/ folks i care about deeply. i would agree this may color perceptions. so might not caring about people, i would guess.)my question was trying to figure out what the thought behind the post was, considering its strident tone, and extreme statements. now i realize no such thought went into it. thanks for clearing that up.

another point that becomes clearer from your post is that when you say "the family does this..or would do that, " you really seem to be speaking about p&m.. and everyone else just gets painted w/ the same brush. i am curious tho, do you really feel that everyonre in the family believes exactly as them? clearly, they have been having a heck of a time for years getting everyone to march in lock step. did you fully accept all of the teachings while you were in? no looking for loopholes, or skirting the issues? if so you were a far better disciple than i. as numerous visitors to the board have pointed out, there are numerous influences for one to stay beyond full acceptance. it seems to me that you really don't hold out much hope for current fammems to be redeemed. signing the pledge was tantamount to taking the mark of the beast. that helps me understand why you don't trouble yourself w/ thinking about how what you say will affect their thinking.

about the incident in laurel, you definitely got it quite wrong. i don't remember all the details. but why do care about that?

one thing we can agree on, no need to rehash these positions ad infinitum. hope all is well w/ your health and family. geez.. don't you miss greece? i was daydreaming about it just today.
