Youth exploited.

Posted by Sam Ajemian on August 28, 2003 at 20:54:39

I wrote a post a couple weeks ago here titled "The Third Generation". It was written about the Second Generation and the concequences of the Second Generation's and First Generation's inactivity.

You talk about exploitation of Second Generation people, I talk about responsibility of Second Generation people.

But it is not a choice between one or the other, it is about both at the same time, and done in the right way as much as possible.

Second generation should not be exploited and second generation should not fail in their responsibilities towards the third Geneartion.

I don't want to bring Avongirl into this, unless she wants to.

But I don't really understand what she means by her statement.

Thousands of abused minors testify every day in court cases around the world. It happens all the time. It is part of what take place, it is routine. It is part of the legal process and how things work.

You tell me.

What happened to the young people who testified about abuse in the Family in the court cases, most of whom had just left the Family?

Where they treated with dignity and respect and given support or were they pushed into talking about their trauma in a way that revictimized them?

How did they hold up following these events?

These are your questions, I wouldn't put the questions the way you did, but tell me what you know about it. Maybe you know something I don't know. I have heard some things about it, but I don't really know what to believe.

How about people like Kristina, Mene, Marisha and the testimonies they gave that practically turned the tide in the most important court case. Miriam and others.

Nobody put a gun to Mene's head to make her travel all the way to England to testify, she must have wanted to.

It must have been traumatic for them, the whole ordear must have been very taxing.

What would you suggest if there is another big court case that could possibly expose the Family like never before? Would you advise them not to go, so they will not be re-traumatized by it?

If you look at only one part of the big picture, and that's all you want to look at, and you refuse to look at anything else, and you let yourself gross out over the details of that one part, you'll end up getting a distorted view of reality.

Maybe that is what has happened to you.
