Do no harm

Well, having lived in a destructful environment for much of my life, where I harmed and was harmed on a regular basis, I have adapted as my credo "Do no Harm." I don't want to hurt people.

Of course, life is messy, but as much as possible, I have no desire to make anyone's life more miserable. the excpetion is where the person in question is hurting other people, oppressing them, or exploiting them. Then, I think, we need to expose wrongdoing, but in such a way that it focusses on the behavoir, not the person, and also creates an environment where the person can change.

But life is messy, and I for one fall short. Still, I try. Or, like Bart Simpson says, "I can't promise to try to be good, but I promise to try to try." It's a beginning.

If anyone likes the NDN culture, then by all means go there. Some people like the trailer park mindset. I prefer an environment where the discussion reflects a modicum of respect for ideas and people, and where there is little demand for the mindlessness that we all bought into for way too long.

At the risk of sounding too rational, I clarify that I like movingon.org. there is a lot of wild stuff, hurtful stuff, but there is so much wonderful material there -- so much that FGA's can read and learn from.

Life is beautiful -- but also, as Augustine said, 'a vale of tears.'
