To be honest I don't remember the cover Jo. Just how it affected me. I was in Macau at the time and living with Phineas and Rebecca among others. They had a severly disabled boy and the whole family loved him so much. The other siblings helped look after him and it was beautiful.
We went to some island in Hong Kong for a NAF, WAF or whatever they were called and the letter arrived and I was heartbroken. As soon as I read the letter I knew what this meant for Phin and his family. Since Ho and Ruthie were living there with us too I wouldn't be surprised if it was Phineas and Rebecca's situation that prompted the letter.I believe they did send David back to the States. I don't know the details because I left shortly afterwards. I thought it was the most heartless thing that I had heard of. Obviously things got much worse after I left.
