NDN was started by a guy named Barney, who was an FM member at the time. It started as a printed newsletter, and evolved into a website. When ex-members showed up on the website and started being critical of The Family, leadership told Barney to shut down the site, or he was out. He decided to keep the site open, and became an automatic ex-member. This was sometime in 2000. So, I guess it is debatable if NDN was ever actually Pro-Family. On one hand it was run by a member, but on the other end, that person was excommunicated for running a website that allowed anti-Family views. So, I guess if you asked many Ex-Members, NDN was more Pro-Family, and if you asked Family Leaders, it was anti-Family.

As far as me personaly, I'm probably the only person here who was never pro-Family, since I was never in the Family. My wife, Jane, was in the Family and left 23 years ago. I was trying to help her find out what ever happpened to The Family when I discovered the boards. I got involved with NDN when Barney put on a Fellowship near our house. It was there that I met Barney, Sam Ajemian, Acheick, George, and several other people who are active on the boards. The next day, I got a call asking if I could give George a ride to the airport. I went over to the hotel, and talked with Barney and George for a little while. Barney learned that I had been involved in online computing since the early 80's. He asked if I would help out by posting a few photos on the NDN website. I told him "sure". Then he sent me about 1,000 pictures (I tought he meant maybe 10-20!). The next thing I knew, I was the "Technical Manager" of the website. I really had no idea what I was getting involved in. But, the site has evolved with time. I think I've had some positive influence on it, bringing a point of view of someone who was never in The Family. Some people like that, some people think it is none of my business.
