There is a longstanding (albiet minor) spiritual tradition called "bridal mysticism" in the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches that is very much like what you describe as your prayer life. Check out the writings of Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Hadewijch the Beguine, Hildegard of Bingen, or John Donne.

Although most of the bridal mystics are women, I'm particularly fond to the first stanza of "Living Flame of Love, by John of the Cross:

Oh! Living flame of love,
how soothingly you wound
the innermost part of me!
Since now you do not oppress,
now consummate--if it be your will:
tear through the veil of this sweet encounter!

Living Flame of Love is a poem, and it is also a treatise on mystical union with God through prayer.
