Archivist:

Please don't be sorry for the "venting." Lots of things in your post really had me nodding my head in agreement, and even if they hadn't, there's no rule we have to agree. But I just appreciate that you (and pretty much everyone who has responded to my post so far) didn't jump all over me in a nasty way!

My comments about masturbation were made because I have noticed a lot of sarcasm about it on these Boards and what seemed to me an over emphasis, as I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal in the Family. The core of LJR was very little to do with masturbation but more seeing Jesus in your sex partner and making love to the Lord.

Being a woman made LJR a little less difficult to swallow... I have never understood how it could apply to a man. And you're also right, what began as voluntary got less and less so as time went on.

As I said, having a personal "up close" relationship with the Lord has always been very important to me so some aspects of LJR were not so tough to swallow. I still love to curl up in His arms as I go to sleep, or sometimes I believe He is walking side by side with me, as in the famous "Footprints" poem, and with his arm around my shoulder.
