There is evidence that certain forms of sociopathy have a biological basis. In other words, her profound lack of empathy may have developed as a consequence of a genetic and environmental propensity.
A good example of this is the case of Jimmy Carter's nephew, born to his sister. Basically, it's the "bad seed" theory of criminality.
Another question might be: Is there a history of criminal behavior in this family?
