The problem is, because the F ättaches "thus saith the Lord" to these experiments, it makes it very difficult for them to go back and say that something is wrong. They would have to admit that it really wasn't from God, or that they are now going against what God said.
All their changes are surface changes, for the sake of expediency.
They still officially deny that "One Wife" and "The Law of Love" have ever done anything but good. History is revised or completely rewritten so that any damage is always attibutable to someone's "misapplication" of the Letters. And Family members swallow this because so many of them weren't there when the initial "revelation" came out, or were too young to have a grasp of what was going on around them at the time. Those who contradict WS's new version are seen as disloyal or troublemakers.
