Off the top of my head, I don't know what the standards are in the US. But, it is reasonable to assume that a child should have time devoted to school, recreation and rest than participating in income producting activites.

Even if children in The Family are not systematicaly sexually or physically abused anymore, it does sound like they spend a lot of time providing income producing labor. I think the question regarding excessive child labor being a form of abuse was settled in this country a long time ago.

I would have a problem recommending that a child be adopted by Family members if the ultimate goal was to turn the child into a meal ticket.
