Thanks for that answer. It was really helpful. The thing is that if I don't understand some of this stuff after the level of exposure I've had, the general public probably won't get it at all.

Maybe one of the things I'm picking up on is that it isn't that Family education is so good, but US Public education is so bad.

Back in the early days of online computing I was hired by a national magazine to write an article about the mysterious world of online services. My first draft was rejected, and I was asked to rewrite it. I was crushed, and asked what the problem was. The editor told me that the article was written at a college level. I thought, "Okay... it's a computer publication for egghead nerds, right?". She explained that even with a computer publication that the writing had to be kept at an 8th grade level or most people would not be able to read it.

That's pretty pathetic. But, I dumbed it down, and they loved it. They used it as the cover story for the publication that month and I got a nice check out of it.

I guess where I'm going with all this is that I am in a position from time to time to offer encouragement to young people who are still in The Family. Sometimes they think that they have to stay in because they couldn't make it on the outside. They need to look at people like Jules and Daniel and others as good examples of what can be achieved even with a late start in mainstream education.
