it depends on where you are - where it happened, what country, what state, etc. Even in the U.S., each state has it's own statute of limitations. And then there is a problem if it happened in another country. Nevada is the toughest state - if it happened to someone under 12, there is no statute of limitations and the punishment is quite harsh. However, the incident had to take place there.
