I'm so sorry to hear that. That is ironic, though, that this happened when you so desperately were trying to protect them. It is certainly not your fault and you did your best by them. Who would have known? I was watching a show where an expert was discussing abuse and she said that typically the abuser will appear to be very kind, sweet, and friendly. They do this so they can get the trust of their victims and not be detected by others. This is very common. I've seen cases where families swore up and down that their loved one could never be a child abuser, it just wasn't possible. The abuser finally admits to it in jail, hoping for an early release. So it's very typical for them to fool everyone around them. Thank God your children have your support and know you love them, that has pulled them through, they seem to be getting through it. I will keep you and your children in my thoughts and prayers. I can see how it has made you cynical and hurt you deeply. Life is like that. But you have a little cherub (your grandson) to cheer you up! Sometimes I think my children have kept me alive, it is for them that I keep going and am a survivor. When I see my daughter suffer, I remind her (and me) that she has two beautiful lives that are worth everything in the world and that keeps her going too. Susie, we just do our best, that's all we can do.
