Although, I left the group in 74 and returned in 75 to spend another miserable 3 years of wasted life with the group.
I, but for the grace of God left the group before my children were ever affected . I couldn't imagine the guilt that some of you parents feel.
I want all to understand and not to use what I'm going to say as a justification of your own sin or where your fault begins or ends.
Let us start with what that piece of shit "DB" began brainwashing us. "Never underestimate the power of fear to control-db".
You have no idea at all how this man terrorized and brainwashed your parents constantly. He was a genius at it and he practiced his fear techniques on us and enforced it using his henchman.
Berg wasn't the only one. Jim Jones had his followers so brainwashed, confused and fearful that 900 of them committed suicide with him. David Koresh had his followers brainwashed and fearful they died a violent death with him even though they had countless opportunties to surrender themselves to the authorities.(of course some conspiracy nuts will say otherwise)
But, all these cults use fear or scare tactics to enforce their will on their followers. If you don't believe Berg did that to your parents then you'd better go over his letters. Remember again what Berg said which is probably the only truth he ever said (even though he plagarized this too).
"Never underestimate the power of fear to control". Great christian man he was, right? I think he got that saying from the communist books he was constantly studying.(Maybe, Mao better rise up from hell and sue the s.o.b. Berg)
But, some of the guilt lays with your parents (as my guilt could have layed)when Berg in 78 told everybody to go home who didn't believe that what he had to say was the word of God.(or something to that effect). But, later found out his genius almost destroyed his income(such a spiritual man worrying about his income-his slaves are leaving). So, he again started up with his extreme fear tactics.
I left the group for good in 78, bruised, wounded, fearful that God was going to come kill me or an IRS agent would track me down because I hadn't paid taxes. Fear, fear fear, all put in my head by that imposter, the hoax that he was and yes I gobbled it up.
I know sometimes how you feel as I had felt, starting off at life, 29 years old with 3 kids and another on the way, no education, no job skills, no job history. 10 years of my life, down the tubes even brainwashed to believe that making money was being a systemite and that God had some personal hell in mind for me for leaving the most glorious group, the 144,000, the special elite unit, the avanguard of the Jesus Revolution. So you see fear tactics work.
I'm not saying all the blame lays on the cult, some of the parents have an amount of the blame too.
I think some of these people that have committed acts of heidous crimes should be prosecuted. I think the TF needs to be taken down and sued. I believe that Maria and Peter should be incarcerated immediately for as long as they live for their high crimes, lies and outright fleecing of God's sheep. And if there is any money gotten (which the TF probably have hid away) then it should be divided amongst the victims.
Although, there must be some measure of forgiveness. The bible says,"if your right eye offends you, cut it off". There must be justice, but not vengance on your part. There's a fine line that you must walk. Vengance belongs to God and he will repay, justice belongs to the abused and oppressed.
If this so called brother that molested and had sex with his stepdaughter is repentent than the bible says to " bring forth fruits meet for repentance". He should in some way make amends whether it be monetarily or otherwise to his stepdaughter.
Be it a lesson to all, "I would rather kill brother wolf to save sister sheep". The parents should have laid down their lives for their children.. that's a natural instinct. So, you understand something is wrong with some of their thought processes. I, believe it's the brainwashing backed up with exteme fear.
But, you must determine the guilt versus the innocent. You can't put the parents all into one group and say you're all of bunch of bad apples, therefore you must be condemned. "Off with their heads". Some of them are victims. willing? Some! Others misguided and misinformed. This is where justice and vengance begins, only God and the court system has the right to determine which is which.
