Berg's alcoholism, guilt & frugality

Posted by MG (reposted) on December 22, 2003 at 13:32:39

Berg's alcoholism was probably a factor in the neurotic frugality. Alcoholics suffer from lots of inner guilt. One thing they feel the most guilty about is the expense. So to compensate for the money that went to support his alcohol excess, he'd skimp in ways such as the half sheet of a paper towel that's first used as a napkin, second to blow his nose, & third in the grand finale as toilet pater. Imagine Berg's sigh of relief as he wipes the shit off his derriere, then, bolstered with such self congratulations, the humble prophet is ready for another swig.
