In the family from what I remember "Selah" was something that meant two things. One was "to think on it" as to ponder something said, as in reading something in the bible and then thinking about it. But the most common use in the family was that selah meant to keep it secret. I don't know why it was chosen in this aspect.
Just like "Romans" meant cops. The term itself has nothing to do with cops, but the word was snagged to be a family warning that the cops were around. That term was chosen because that book in the bible talks about the authorities that be somewhere. The family developed its own nomenclature (their own buzzwords) which were known only to the family. Many other cults do this too. Just like "Kings" and "Queens" or "Babylon". We had lots of buzzwords and codes.
Even more confusing to me is the continual addition of anacronyms. And they change over time or many are added. I have been out of the family for a long time, and without the boards to update anacronyms, I would have no idea what was going on.
